My First Visit-A Really Excellent Physician
First impression. His office is located in a beautiful building. His front and back office Staff were excellent.Dr. Castro was very professional and knowledgeable..He actually had read my medical history prior to my appointment. He is an excellent listener, and explains everything clearly. He is concerned, and you feel you are seeing a 'real' physician.

Beware of a $590 first time office visit
We have united PPO to which shows we are covered. My husband was seen by the dr and was not helped by him but told to go to a dermatologist. To which that dermatologist was booked up for six months. He was seen for less than an hour at this first patient office visit. We then get a bill in the mail that they charged our insurance $590 for an outpatient visit. I’m told by Providence this is normal for a first time visit?? I have seen MANY specialist in the last 15 years I’ve had PPO insurance and never once was I charged over $150 for a first visit. This office of providence is a complete scam. BEWARE OF THIS MEDICAL GROUP!!!

My dad 93 years had an appointment with Dr. Castro today and I was very impressed and amazed at the amount of time he spent with going through the medical history and getting reports etc. This doctor has a great bedside manner and is a caring person. A nice change from some of the other doctors who see my dad. Totally recommend Dr Castro.

Excellent Listener and diagnostician. He has been guiding my Limited Scleroderma/CREST syndrome since 1/2013. First doctor to truly listen to my vague confusing symptoms and find a diagnosis that he has treated with thorough care. Highly recommend Dr. Hernan Castro-Rueda to anyone with Rheumotological disorders.

I feel very fortunate to have Dr.Castro as my rheumatologist. My arthritis has been hard to diagnose because of the various symptoms I'm having. Dr. Castro has been very thorough with his evaluations. He has consulted with other doctors to get their opinions and I really appreciate that. I now have relief for the first time in years. I never feel rushed and he always answers all my questions and explains it in a way that I as a nonmedical person understands.I'm lucky to have have him as my dr.

Dr. Castro has been my doctor for close to 10 years. He is absolutely amazing. He knows everything there is to know about my condition and how it presents itself in my body, which says a lot since SLE is so confusing and hard to diagnose. He is great at listening and has always taken the time to make sure that everything is okay. I wouldn't be go anywhere else.

He is the only doctor that was able to help me find the roots of my medical problems - I went to commissions of doctors at USC the best of the best in search of answers....without any results. He found my problem and in a very short time. He is THE BEST IN HIS FIELD.

If I could rate under 1 start, I would. This doctor was extremely rushed and did not listen to a thing I said. He was abrupt and distracted every time I came in. I was a compliant patient and he still treated me as if I were a nascence. The office staff on the other hand was very friendly and his assistant was pleasant and listened, that is until the Doctor hurried her out of the room. I would not go back if he was the last rheumatologist in mission viejo.

I went to see this doctor, then a couple days later I told him I had slight pain in my eye, and he called me the next day, the pain was gone, but insisted any sort of eye pain was an emergency and I needed to go to the ER. I went to the ER, and they had no idea why the doctor told me to go there, told me it was not an emergency and to see my primary care doctor. This useless visit cost me $550.

I have never seen such an un-professional, difficult, moody doctor with such a huge ego. I seriously think he needs to pack his bags and get out of medicine. This Dr (if you want to call him that) has an large ego and for no reason. I think he badgers his patiets to come in for office visits because of his lack of clientele. Very different than the other true professionals at Mission Internal Medical Group. Believe me--He won't last long at that group. Don't walk from this doctor---RUN!
