INADEQUATE TREATMENT
Before cancelling the last two appointments 9-27-24, and 11-15-24. Dr. Ruiz treated me for Peyronies disease giving me c---------- clostridium histolyticum injections since 6-20 for two days then every 3 months until 3-23 which would total 26 injections. With these injections there is a success rate of about 66%. Before these injections I was advised by Dr. Ruiz to do the penile traction therapy which has a 48% success rate. On 3-29-23, Dr Ruiz proceeded with Bilateral Corporal Plication which has a 96% success rate. Dr Ruiz did not do any of the procedure satisfactorily that would result in the cure for the ailment that I have. I am a 100% disabled veteran when I met Dr. Ruiz at the Harlingen Texas VA clinic. I have no other choice but to contact the Medical Board and Community Care of the Harlingen VA clinic or any other means to hold Dr. Ruiz accountable as a certified Urologist. The other reason for my visit was the VA did a scan on my kidneys and found 2 cysts.

All for a piece of rubber
I have been a patience of Dr Ruiz for a few years. The visits are very short, and a wait of least 6 months to get an appointment. I wear a poseray for a prolapsed bladder. To hold my bladder in place. I have had this poseray for over two years and I felt I need a new one. I was told that insurance would not replace till 10 years. I don't keep Tupperware for 10 years and I am being asked to wear a rubber thing in my body for 10 year (24/7) I called insurance, and they said no problem to replace. The cost on the net goes from $30 to $100. I could have paid the price myself. Twice I have asked to have a new one. What is the big deal, except the person who fits the poseray is not helpful. So be careful, this may not be the Doc, to help you.

He is leaving VA
Dr. Ruiz treated my father a WWII vet and was a great dr for my father. What respect he gave him. So I was surprised to see him show up working at the VA Harligen Hospital. He treated me for two years. Paying attention to my concerns with bladder cancer in the family. We (He) did routine screenings for cancer always coming back negative. Listen carefully to my issues. Got him from waking up 4 in 5 times a night down to 2. But now the problem is back again waking up hourly. So I called the VA for a earlier appointment and was told this is his last month working here. Uffff I will be going on my 4 urologist at the VA. Called is office to see when I could see him. If VA will not send me I have Insurance. I want to stay with him. Called office and first availability is in September 2023. 9 months away. I hope once I get in he will see me bi yearly. So sorry to see him leave VA.

I like Dr Ruiz a lot. He is really nice. Great personality. But its very difficult to see him. It takes months to get an appointment with him. So you have to see an assistant if you need to see someone soon. The assistant is nice but when you need to see a specialist, how prudent is it to see a PA like three times in a row and not get to discuss your issues with a doctor? This saddens me.
