Best Doctor
Dr. Martinez Gonzalez is one of the very best doctors that I have. It's rare to find a doctor that leaves you feeling heard and understood. I suffer from a few big medical issues and he was able to listen to all of my symptoms and problems and then created a plan that would work for me. Not only that but his staff are fabulous, they answer my phone calls, work with me in English (My Spanish is very bad still), answer emails and are always very kind.

Beware he is not the best as he portrays
This doctor will talk himself as the best but the reality is he does not have the resources and my father died in his hands. Although my father was sick he did not need to die now trying to feel better. There was no transparency and honesty. He almost assured us that he could help him feel better but instead he passed away leaving us with no answers. When he passed all the doctor said was 'he was going to die anyway in 6 months to a year'. Yes he would have died surrounded by loved ones, with dignity something they don't provide at this substandard medical center. Look for several opinions, don't trust like we did. He is not the wonderful doctor he portrays to be. The problem is there are no doctors in that Island so you have to settle.

It's not what it seems
This doctor convinced me that I could help my dad with a TAVR. My dad went to the medical center on a Tuesday and left Thursday dead. The doctor never went out to inform the family of my father's condition. We didn't know anything about my dad since the patient is a prisoner in the ICU. The incompetent nurses at the medical center told us the bare minimum and that everything was fine. When he came out to tell me that my dad had died, he told me that he would have died anyway in 6-12 months. What a comfort. He would have died with his loved ones and with dignity. What he did was to hasten the death of my father who wanted so much to live. We couldn't even say goodbye. I trust too much but I write so that what happened to us doesn't happen to anyone. You don't have the necessary resources for cardiology. If you can't go to the United States, go to San Juan. In Mayaguez they are not prepared or have the resources to do any type of heart surgery. I wish someone had told me this.

I save my life
Telehealth
He saved my life, explains the reason for the intervention, he is passionate about his profession and is concerned about recovery. He says things clearly and unambiguously.
