She is truly unprofessional and unconcerned about patient wellbeing and life constraints. In addition to my actually quite good insurance, the office charged me 50$ out of pocket for preventive care. Her office refused to let me schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss options after receiving an ultrasound that she recommended. This was the absolute worst experience with a medical facility that I have ever had.

Dangerous, rude and unprofessional
At my very first appointment, Dr. Reese did not know about a clotting disorder that meant I could not have birth control. She was confused between a superficial thrombosis and a DVT. She then accused me of 'lying' on my medical form. She then walked out, telling me to 'find another provider.' I am a medical provider (I doubt she bothered to look at my history to see my profession), and this is the first time in my entire life I seriously considered calling the licensing board to make a complaint. I also NEVER write negative reviews, but if this at least validates someone else's experience, I feel it is warranted.

Wish I had read reviews beforehand
At first she was very pleasant, but when I questioned having surgery for a fibroid/2nd opinion things changed. I got a termination letter in the mail which is fine by the way, after reading all these reviews and her wanting me to go to all the way to Charlottesville since she now couldn’t operate at Valley Health.

The best in the valley
Best doctor I’ve had in a very long time. The online medical record she uses is easy to access and has more details than my primary care provider offers. She’ll make you get those routine screenings! You’re supposed to get!! Because she cares!!!

Uses scare tactics
Gives handouts with no attribution, peer review, or references to sources. Apparently she didn't listen when she was told how to write a term paper in high school. Received this in an email when I declined to keep an appointment "Your follow up to review the biopsy is needed to discuss the next steps in your care. Please ... reschedule this important appointment. Failure to do so could result in worsening of your health or even death." According to her website, she provides more plastic surgery type services than gynecology. Badmouthed the endocrinologist I've been seeing for several years who has provided very good care and has improved my diabetes and hemoglobin A1c. Will not return or recommend.

Thank You Dr Reese!
I was very hesitant to go to Dr. Reese after reading some of these negative reviews. I found Dr. Reese and her staff to be excellent from the 1st step, getting the appointment quickly to answering my questions during the visit. It's been said in the negative comments below that she orders unnecessary tests.. that's a lie! If she had not ordered my preventive testing, I never would've went for a colonoscopy. They found a cancerous polyp and I am getting the treatment I need. In addition to being extremely grateful to her, I have the utmost confidence and respect. I am so happy I didn't listen to the negative, misleading comments in the reviews!

Unprofessional GYN
My GYN of 30 years retired, suggested Dr Heather Reese. During my first visit she came in sounding anxious and then bashed him twice, suggested I switch mammogram places after 10 years and then slammed her laptop and said “ Sandy, I don’t believe this is a good fit” as she left me sitting there in a gown. My jaw dropped! Not one time did I disagree with her. I asked the receptionist for my records, claimed no paper. I filled out transfer record form, daughter took it in. Told her my records were gone. I went in and told her I had paper for her printer. She and her security guard ( who had been there all day- weird right) told me they could not release them as they were not their records. What? They are MY health records, of course you can. I am reporting them to the VA Dept of Health Professions as I know this is not correct! Wish I had these reviews before I scheduled an appt 8 mos out!

What in tarnation????
Seriously though, what in tarnation is wrong with Dr. Reese and Women First? I let them know I would no longer be a patient because I was moving so I would need to switch practices. I received 4 letters in the mail and one of them was certified saying they were releasing me because of non compliance. I’ve been a patient of hers for 20 years. It’s not non compliance it’s moving. One more time for the people in back….I AM MOVING! Questions? Comments? Concerns?Hallucinations? But hey don’t worry if I need care within the next 30 days I can always visit the emergency room. Classy Dr. Reese, very classy….

Released from the practice for not having a mammogram at the age of 40. This is directly from the American Cancer Society’s website: Women ages 40 to 44 should have the choice to start annual breast cancer screening with mammograms (x-rays of the breast) if they wish to do so. Women age 45 to 54 should get mammograms every year. Reading other reviews Dr. Reese seems to be quick to release her patients for various reasons. Think twice before choosing her for your healthcare needs.

Rudest staff I've ever experienced!! DO NOT GO! Sent me a letter threatening to drop me as a patient if I didn't get my mammogram, which I did this past summer, and I updated my info I had no idea they didn't get the results until the letter. BTW along with the letter they have robo calls everyday reminding you to make an appointment. I had called said that I'm unable to get an MRI right now & as soon as I do I'll make an appointment. The receptionists starts berating me saying called & I hadn't had the mammogram I told her I said it WAS the MRI I couldn't do & couldn't believe how she's reprimanding me. She hung up on me. I called back & a guy answered the phone, I told him my daughters & I will no longer be patients there & said why . I said good-bye & hung up. He had the audacity to call me back & said he listened to my rant for 5 min & that if I want my records it would 6cents a page...I told him that I couldn't believe he called me back to say any of what he did

Dr. Reese’s office has unfortunately, and disappointingly, become very unprofessional. Upon trying to reschedule her routine appointment, due to the continued weak national response to COVID, rising infection rates in the area, and falling into the “high-risk” demographic for infection, my mother was abruptly terminated from the office, based on what they deemed to be “non-compliance.” The appointment was for a non-emergent, routine check-up that could’ve easily waited another six months. To make matters worse, access to the patient portal was repeatedly (and illegally) denied by the office manager, prior to her even receiving the letter. The office manager avoided my phone calls and ignored my messages. Between a rude receptionist showing absolutely no empathy, a cowardly office manager, and a doctor who will sign her name to a patient termination letter, under false pretenses, this practice has demonstrated a complete disregard for patient care, and autonomy.

Do not go to this office. She will discharge you with no explanation. She will send you a letter of discharge after your first appointment. Personally I feel she is only capable of what she knows and will not grow or learn from new things or new patients. A patient should grow with their doctor not just visit once or twice. In my opinion, she's not up for the challenge.

Very disappointed with this office. Got a letter in the mail that said I was due for my annual exam and if I didn't schedule in the next 2 weeks I would be dismissed from the practice. Seriously, I have never gotten a letter like this from any practice. I could see if it had been a while but 2 weeks. She can forget me ever coming back to her practice.

After a lifetime of having ovarian cysts. She told me I never had them. I knew she was wrong. My primary care provider sent me for a sonogram and just found one 6months ago. Also Cignia contacted us because she tries to over bill her clients. She has her own agenda. Certainly her pocket comes first! Completely unprofessional! Quite frankly I have never seen anything like it in my life! I wouldn’t step foot into that office again!

I had been a patient of Dr Reese and was treated incredibly unprofessionally by her staff who sent a letter to me saying I had missed a test. I had requested to speak with Dr Reese and was told that would not be possible. I was diagnosed with cancer have been going through treatment at UVA and was given zero courtesy from both her office staff and her. I was made to feel like she was more concerned with the financial end of the practice rather than the medical. Was left totally speechless.
