Misdiagnosed and refused needed testing
My husband came in after stepping on a toothpick and the doctor did an X-ray (which doesn’t show wood). My husband informed her that it doesn’t and she tried to argue and then said “oh yeah it won’t”. She refused to do an MRI or Ultrasound to check. She told him to wash his foot 3x a day and discharged him. We went to the Orthopedic clinic the next day. They did an ultrasound and immediately found 2 cm of toothpick stuck 2 cm deep. They had to remove it immediately. With Heather’s advice someone could have potentially gotten a life threatening infection. I would not at all recommend this doctor.

Failed to test for heart failure. I did.
I went to the ER because I was and had been having severe chest pain. I was 33 years old, not someone who went to the doctor hardly ever. I told her what symptoms I had in my chest as well literally numb limbs. She chose not to test for troponin, the only thing they can test in the blood to indicate heart failure. She tested a litany of other values. And several of them were concerning, including a Lipase level of 523. 300 is the max normal range. My ekg was abnormal as well and she told me my tests were normal and it was indigestion. I proceeded to have heart surgery 2 weeks later. She dismissed me as if I were an idiot. I'm a responsible adult with a full time career and family. I easily could have died and there is no telling the damage that was done by her negligence.

This was the worst experience i've ever had at Sanford er. She had one other patient besides me and it took two hours after ambulance brought me in for dr merrill to see me. When I asked why it took so long she told me to leave hospital. She called security even though nurse and security thought there was no reason for me to be removed. She stayed I needed to take meds as prescribed I said if you will count my meds you will see I have taken them exactly as ordered she refused. Rude n arrogant dr
