Dr. Heath Melugin, MD

I'm 6 months post op and around 90% back and haven't had pain for a long time. Way beyond my expectations. I'm very blessed to have been in Dr. Melugin's care. He and his team are wonderful and they genuinely care about their patients. I appreciate a man of his word; I had some serious rotator cuff issues and he said he could fix it and as long as I did my PT I would get back to enjoying life as before. He certainly did his part and I'm well on my way. I hope to never have any more similar issues but if I do, I know Dr. Melugin's office will be my first call. I recommend him with absolutely no reservation.

Moved to Springfield Mo. knowing that I needed total knee replacement. Looked for the best surgeon, based on education, experience and someone using robotic assistance. Had the surgery January 2025 and after 10 weeks was totally released and working out at the gym.

Such a kind person and his staff is just wonderful! I had total knee replacement and was very apprehensive about the surgery, but felt completely safe and confident under his care. We are so lucky to have him in Springfield!

Six weeks after surgery my new knee feels great! Pain has pretty much gone and motion is improving every day. Standing and walking is much better than before. Dr Melugin and his whole team are very good at making this experience the best it can be, glad I was hooked up with them.

This man is absolutely amazing. His bedside manner is awesome. He does great work. I’ve been very impressed with him. He couldn’t do the complete rotator cuff surgery because I have severe arthritis in my shoulder. However he was able to remove some arthritis and repaired some tears in muscle and I’m now 6 weeks out of surgery feeling so much better. I would highly recommend him to anyone. My niece also had rotator cuff surgery with him so I have seen both sides. Yes excellent doctor!!!

Dr. Melugin made a bad injury for my daughter a good experience I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr Melugin is a very confident surgeon that tells you exactly what to expect going into your procedure. if I ever should need his services again I would definitely use him.

I recently tore my rotator cuff and had to move from one Physician in the practice who I absolutely loved to a new Doctor who came to the practice with expertise in shoulders. At first I was a little hesitant. I won't like! But I soon found out that this Doctor was amazing. He explained in detail all the problem I had and gave me clear options. Either don't fix the tear and live a diminished active lifestyle in my 60's and beyond or consider getting this fixed and get back to what I loved to do. Stay active. Boy, he was right. It is now 7 months past my surgery and I can honestly say I'm so glad I did the surgery. Not only was the experience very professional and his staff wonderful, they made me so comfortable before, during and after surgery. Thanks to Dr. Melugin, I'm feeling great and now able to move on with my activities and holding my grandbabies.

I had a total knee replacement, my experience was great, from surgery to recovery. He has an excellent staff that tracks you from pre to post appointments. The process is well documented, the drug regiment keeps your pain in check, my PT experience was great.

After having several surgeries at Cox Bone and Joint, I have been very satisfied with Dr. Heath Melughin who performed my latest surgery-Reverse Shoulder Replacement. I received excellent care and consideration from him and his staff before, during and after my surgery July 25th, 2024. I have been Blessed to this point with a fast recovery and looking forward to going back to farming ASAP!!

Dr. Heath Melugin is a wonderful and very accomplished surgeon. His PA and the rest of his staff were great at helping you for the pre and post follow up. Springfield is lucky to have one of their own return with so much training and experience as he has had. He could have picked any place. We are so lucky he chose to come to CoxHealth.I had a total knee replacement the middle of June 2024 and was up in a couple of weeks and around without any assistance in about 6 weeks. I did not want to do this but they turned this into a very positive experience and I would recommend Dr. Melugin and his team to anyone needing an orthopedic surgeon!

He is a most accomplished and acclaimed orthopedic surgeon having trained at K U Medical School, Mayo Clinic and The Steadman Clinic. I had a most successful total knee replacement surgery in December, 2023, and was mobile in three weeks!Dr. Melugin is patient focused and most kind and thoughtful in his approach to patients. He is pure gold, and we are so fortunate and blessed to have him practicing at CoxHealth.

I have been working with Dr. Melugin for over a year and just had a complete left knee replacement. I am two weeks post-op and walking without the assistance of any equipment. Dr. Melugin is a very personable physician carefully listening to your concerns and explaining the risks and possible results of a procedure. Most importantly, he is an extremely talented surgeon and truly a blessing from God. His entire team is so friendly yet professional and I highly recommend Dr. Melugin.

I am 12 weeks post op from a right knee replacement. The surgery went well. The recovery was up to me and physical therapy, however anytime I called with questions or concerns, I always received a call back by a team member or an answer right away. This is one of the best teams I have had in healthcare. I was determined to walk again and not live the rest of my life in a wheelchair. I'm going back to work tomorrow thanks to Dr. Melugin and his team.

After having so much knee pain i was referred to Dr Melugin and needed knee surgery. I was scared having to hear what needed to be done, but his mannerism put me at ease with it him explaining every detail, and assuring that i was going to be in great hands. I had been having knee pain for 6 or 7 months. I thought if I rested from activity, it would heal. But when I returned to activity, I had that same pain! I went to see Dr. Melugin and was so glad I did! He suspected a meniscus tear, which the MRI did indeed show. He explained the surgery and what I could expect in recovery. I am 7 weeks out and with PT am able to return to hiking, biking, and pickleball!! I really like Dr. Melugin in that he listened to me, answered my questions, and was encouraging in my recovery! I would recommend him to anyone with joint issues and wanting to return to what they were doing beforehand!! He's the best!
