Chronic migraines can be extremely difficult on someone, and I believe that a doctor in this field should possess the traits of empathy, patience, and knowledge. Dr. Long lacks those traits. Don't you hate waiting months for a neurology appointment, suffering through debilitating migraines, finally getting your appointment, paying your copay, and then the doctor spends less than 4 minutes with you and seems like he could care less about what you're going through and working WITH YOU to find a solution? That is Dr. Long.He is the smartest one in the room. It doesn't matter what your experiences are with your condition, other doctors, or other past neurologists, he knows more than you do and they do. If you are an expecting or nursing mother I would STRONGLY recommend any other option. He will just casually deny prescribed medications due to personal biases on how pregnant or nursing mothers should live and not due to medical research or facts on said drugs.

My daughter was a first time patient this morning and she left his office in tears! He basically shamed her for asking for a prescription that she needs for migraines all because she exclusively breastfeeds her ten month old daughter. The medication is perfectly safe for breastfeeding mothers per her lactation consultant and her OBGYN AND THE PEDIATRICIAN! He was in no position to tell her " if you were my wife or family member I would never allow you to take this medication", his words verbatim! He offered no other route of relief for her migraines nor did he want to find out the cause of her migraines.. I am so shocked at his lack of concern for her migraines and his ignorance on his knowledge of medications allowed for breastfed babies! Shame on him!!

Dr. Long is a fantastic doctor; he listens to me, treat my illness and give me samples of medication(s) that I take, when he have it ~ he just doesn’t diagnose you; he gives state of the art tests that are available! His office at Alabama Medical Group have the Best Staff, also!

I would give Doctor Hayden Long a higher review than 5 if I could. After 6 months of intense back pain and numerous epidurals, medications and tests a friend recommended I see Doctor Long. He was the first Doctor to give me some relief from the pain. And he did it without my having to go through more tests or waiting. I slept all night for the first time in 6 months!!

I moved to Mobile and was lucky enough to find Dr Long to follow me with a history of strokes due to Lupus. I had good Neurologists in Missouri and was nervous about moving out of state. I could not be happier with Dr Long. All of my new specialists in Mobile have more than exceeded my hopes for patient care. Dr Long and his entire office have been friendly, caring as extremely knowledgeable. I have a complicated medical history with a rare blood clotting disorder called APS. Dr Long picked up where my previous Drs left off and gave me immediate care plans to treat my condition and decrease danger from further strokes. Dr Long has my highest review recommendation.

Dr. Long has been my neurologist for a few years now. He is the first one to find I had a blockage in my carotid artery. He did ultrasounds to keep up with it. He found, at my last ultrasound that it was almost completely blocked and said I needed to get with a vascular surgeon. I did that and had surgery to clear the artery. If not for Dr. Long, I wouldn't have known about the blockage and had a stroke or worse! Since my surgery in Dec. , I have been able to walk without a cane and my thinking is better! He is a wonderful doctor. He saved my life! I will be forever grateful for him. I recommend him highly!

I am So thankful I found Dr. Long! The other Dr.’s just kept upping my meds, I was up 750 mg.& it wasn’t helping! The other Dr. just wanted to send me to UAB for brain stemulation. Not ready for all that. Dr. Long changed my meds, took blood work, brain EEG. ( The others never did anything.) Dr. Long listened to me,answered my questions and was very thorough. After I started using him I found out my sister & granddaughter uses him. I would definitely recommend Dr. Long. Very personal!

Dr. H. Long has spent a lot of time trying to explain my condition. He uses terms that I can understand. I was impressed with my first visit. He was thorough and took the time to listen to my symptoms. My second visit was just as good as the first visit. He had a plan on what we should do next to try to resolve my medical problems.

I have started seeing Dr. Long after my other neurologist retired. I wish I had found him sooner! He has helped me more in a few visits than my other neurologist helped in years and years! Kind and has been very compassionate, and truly interested in getting me better. I am going to change my primary doctor to one of the internists at his practice at Alabama Medical Group. Efficient experience with their whole office!

Dr. Hayden Long. He conducted himself in a professional manner. Dr. Long was generally concerned for what I had to say. Dr. Long, listened to what I had to tell him and never dismissed anything I had to tell him. I can always trust him to always make the right decisions, concerning my neurological health. When he told me I was not able to drive for six months because I had a seizure. He was thoughtful and caring, when he told me I could not drive for 6 months. He put me on the right medication.

Dr. Hayden Long trained at UAB for his residency, which is one of the top neurology residencies in the South. He is very thorough and his staff is incredibly responsive through their EMR. I feel comfortable discussing my medical and financial issues with him so that he can find a treatment plan that works well for me. I find that Dr. Long’s medical knowledge and compassion make him a wonderful choice for a neurologist.
