Excellent Experience with Bunion Surgery I recently underwent bunion surgery with Dr. Harold Kitaoka and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. From the first consultation to post-op care, Dr. Doctor's Kitaoka was professional, thorough, and genuinely compassionate.

Not very good. Very abrupt. Ruled out Morton's Neuroma but did not suggest further testing to find nature of the very painful problem. I was later diagnosed by another podiatrist, who ordered a CT scan, that I had I had 2 plantar plate tears which is a treatable condition.

Dr. Kitaoka seemed very uninterested in my experience with this injury over the past 18 months and seemed very unprepared based on the previous notes, MRI, x-rays that had been sent over. Horrible bedside manner. Abruptly left the room with no closure or direct instructions on what to do or to expect. Was a very strange visit. The Mayo system is incredible but this guy didn't seem to get it. Very underwhelmed.

Dr. Harold is Kitaoka is an embarrassment to the Mayo Clinic organization and is also a compulsive liar. He refused to treat my plantar plate injury and didn't even bother to offer a different solution to the problem. He claimed I was fine even though an outside MRI has confirmed the injury and it is operable. No empathy was offered at all. Additionally, he has zero personality and is a very angry and hateful man. He talked down to the resident doctor that was working under him like he was his servant. He also seemed very homophobic after I mentioned that I was gay during the office visit. AVOID him at all costs!

I'm sure he has helped many people, but my experience was very unpleasant. I was suffering from severe inexplicable pain in my feet. He examined them for 5 minutes, told me to get a different pair of orthotics, and said I should see a local doctor if my pain persisted. I said I had already gone to several local physicians and had flown across the country to see him. I began crying, and he fled the room and didn't return. When I left, one receptionist snapped at me, while another was comforting.

Repaired my Lis-Franc fracture, very knowledgeable, confident. Would totally turn my foot over to him again, except that I don't plan on breaking my foot again. Thanks Dr Kitaoka! You rock!
