Degenerative Disk Disease
He took the time(and didn't seem hurried to get out of the room with me) to listen to my symptoms and concerns, and to explain what he saw as my problems, appreciate his candor and honesty, also seems he was genuine and did not apply any pressure to me to do something, was basically saying he was there to help and leaving my medical decisions up to me. Appreciate him very much. Thanx Dr. Gregory Poulter.Jeff St.Michel

Scoliosis Surgery
Dr Poulter listened carefully and was very detailed in my spinal case. He performed scoliosis surgery over 8 years ago and I couldn't be happier with the results. I am so thankful for him to this day!

I was in severe pain and saw Dr. Poulter after having an mri and a spinal injection which gave me no relief. After a brief examination by Dr. Poulter he said he thought my hip was locked up and suggested I see a chiropractor. I immediately sought a second opinion from another Spine Group in Carmel and was told I needed a lamenectomy and they scheduled surgery for the next week. They also found a herniated disc at L4, L5 and did a discectomey. My pain was gone immediately. My appointment with Dr. Poulter was late on a Friday afternoon, felt like he was going to miss his tee time.

He dismissed my MRI readings totally and said “They have to report everything to cover their butts.” I have degenerative joint disease, herniated disks and more. He then said “I wish all my patients had backs like yours.” I would not wish that on an enemy. He then referred me to another doctor who gave me great treatment with injections and quality care. I think he just did not want to treat me.

I saw Dr. Poulter for back pain when I was 15. He operated on me twice, and I was still having excruciating pain after the surgeries, which were a year apart. Dr. Poulter said I shouldn’t be having pain and there was nothing wrong. We had several appointments to troubleshoot the problem that were cancelled and never rescheduled. His office wouldn’t answer our calls or respond to our emails or voicemails. He evidently gave up because he couldn’t figure out what was causing my debilitating pain as a teenager. I went to a spine specialist in Carmel instead, and after looking at my x-rays for 2 minutes he told me my hardware from my first surgery had completely broken inside my spine. This was completely visible on the x-ray. Dr. Poulter completely dropped the ball and left me in horrible pain, and didn’t even bother to try to refer me to someone else who could try to figure it out. My experience with him was so disappointing, as I trusted him and felt he was knowledgeable in his field

I went to Dr. Poulter for a second opinion. He was kind and genuine. He took a lot of time with me and listened to all of my concerns. I trust him and if the time comes when I would need a surgery I would certainly go to him.

I had an LI STABLE burst fracture resulting from a car accident in Nov. of 2018. UPMC treated me horribly and basically discharged me to me the care of my family members. I'm from Indiana, but couldn't attempt ride home to Plainfield, IN for almost a month! Dr. Poulter and his partner Michael Skonieczka did their own imaging and said I had an UNSTABLE L1 burst fracture. UPMC really messed up. He set up a surgery for some titanium fusions sets, and now I am on the road to recovery. ?? them!

August 2018 Doctor Greg Poulter and his PA associate Michael Skonieczka are worthy of the very highest praise for their professionalism, compassion and surgical skill. A year ago, I was practically an invalid, barely able to walk 100 yards in severe pain from spinal disc degeneration and scoliosis. One year later, I am again walking straight and largely pain free; recently completing an over 4 mile hike with no problems. I can enthusiastically recommend Dr Poulter and his team at Ortho Indy.

Dr Poulter came highly recommended to me by a family member. He and his staff have been nothing but life savers. His brings conversation down to a non physician level and takes as much time needed to answer any questions and respond to any concerns. He makes very complicated things uncomplicated to understand. The level of care he provides is second to none. I always feel like I am in capable hands. Once I am out of his care, it will be very bittersweet.

Don't waste your time if you have a condition that requires more than a simple shot or requires him to to actually look for what is causing the problem. After one visit with him, I was told (by phone) to seek a second opinion. I wasted nearly 3 months being off of work just to be told that I have carpal tunnel. I went to see a real spine surgeon who diagnosed me instantly and correctly and I am now 2 weeks away from having surgery to repair what is damaged in my neck.

Dr Poulter has operated on me twice now and could be happier. His bedside is just as good as his surgical abilities as I'm back at work being a Firefighter?paramedic when I was told by other Doctors I would never be able to do my job again. Thank you
