Before COVID I saw Dr. Halko for some sports issues. After moving, I had medical records sent to the new doctor. The new doctor was confused and refered me to another doctor. The third doctor showed me what Dr. Halko had written. This doctor said that it looked like Dr. Halko copied and pasted stuff into my record - stuff that had nothing to do with why I was there. This explains why Dr. Halko never understood why I was there for each visit. I just thought he was very busy and had trouble remembering each patients issue. I am so angry at the incompetence and relieved Dr. Halko didn't do any surgeries. There were so many red flags.

I saw Dr. Halko during COVID so no one was able to be with me. My family was on the phone listening to what Dr. Halko said. He said that it would be necessary to amputate one finger, part of another, and a little bit of my hand. My family immediate found a plastic surgeon who specialized in hands. I went to him for a second opinion and he was able to save my entire hand and all my fingers. PT was painful and long but I am so glad I went with the 2nd opinion. I can play my keyboard and other instruments. If I had gone through with the amputation, my life would be very different.

I never write reviews but this was beyond a bad experience. No matter how many times I mentioned my concerns, he never addressed them. He would ramble about something else and when I asked him to answer me, he firmly said that he did. He wrote in my medical record that things were discussed that were not and he wrote that I said things that I didn't. If this review helps one person it was worth taking the time to write it.

Unaware
He didn't know what was going on from one appointment to the next. Even after I reminded him he still couldn't get things straight. I don't expect him to remember everything but it should be in my medical record.

The problem that I had with this office was that sometimes I would leave two or three messages a day, and not get any response until I called for a third time the next day, and even when I called in the morning, I would get a response from the nurse by 4:15 p.m. right before the doctor went home. So I wouldn't get a response from the doctor. However, I was very happy when the doctor didn't have time to call me back, but still called in my medication one time, but the communication from whoever answers the phone to the nurse is extremely delayed. And then when your post surgical and you're in a great deal of pain, that's, that's a problem when you're waiting 5 or 6 hours for a call back from the doctor's office.

Too many follow up appointments
Dr. Halko kept telling me to come back long past what was necessary. Each time I went back my insurance was charged and I had to pay my co-pay. A couple of follow up appointments after this simple surgery is enough. If there is a problem then I contact him. Making appointments here is a huge inconvenience.

Dr. Halko treated me like I was an injury on an assembly line for surgery. He never looked at or spoke to me before or after surgery (or my family.) He came into the surgery room and left the surgery room so I couldn't see him nor did he say anything to me (I was awake). He treated me like I was invisible. He let me sit in the ER for several hours before sending me home and "fit" me in the next day. He never told me he was going to amputate or that he had amputated. I found out when my bandage came off. Every day, I see my hand and remember how inhumanly I was treated

Dr Halko was very professional and did a grest job with my Husband. He explained everything he was going to do and the out come of the surgery. We were very happy with the care. His staff was always nice and helpful. He made sure my husband was taken care of. He worked him into the surgery schedule to get him taken care of quickly after a work injury that required immediate surgery.

DR. HALKO IS AMAZING! Very attentive, listens, and spends the time with you. I went to him after another doctor messed my finger up badly and even though Dr. Halko was unable to save it you can't even tell! He has done a couple of surgeries for me and all have been great. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. HALKO!

He seemed compassionate and sincere but when I said I wanted a second opinion from a doctor outside of their network he got upset and suggested I talk to his colleague for a second opinion. I am seeing an orthopedic hand surgeon at OU and couldn't be happier.
