At pre-op, we discussed my allergies. Just prior to surgery, we discussed them again. During surgery, I wore a red ALLERGY band to indicate that I have am allergic to specific pharmaceuticals. After surgery when I reviewed my records, I saw that he did in fact administer a medication that I am allergic to. After seeing multiple negatives reviews on him and talking with CRNA friends who have worked with him before, I wish I would have removed him from my care team.

I was not fortunate to have that positive experience with him that others had. At my first meeting with him for pre op he spent about 10 minutes with me- in these 10 minutes he provoked my anxiety to higher levels and was unfeeling. He never discussed any of the general anesthesia risks or reviewed medical history or medications. He proposed trying something for the anxiety that from recent past experiences I knew would not work. He refused to listen. On the morning of surgery we tried what he wanted and as history would repeat itself it didn’t work. He refused to acknowledge it and my concerns and proceeded to place the necessary IV ignoring the panic stricken and petrified patient in front of him. Upon placing the IV he had me fully sedated without my permission- I was unable to speak to my doctor on the day of surgery beforehand because of his actions. When speaking with him days after surgery he was untruthful and when called out on it continued to change his story.

Dr. Casey is experienced and a true and kind bedside manner. Plus he doesn't hurt with the big needles.

Refused to read my chart and tried to do nerve block which was not to be done, then had nurse try to give me an injection which again was shown in my chart not to do. All in all a sad time indeed.

Simply the most wonderful anesthesiologist in New Orleans. And his bedside manner pre-surgery is off the charts good and positive.
