Dr. George Youssef, MD

I absolutely love this Dr. However I feel the staff at the Ft Walton office isn’t very efficient and accommodating for heart patients. Several visit seems to always be issues. This Cardiologist is very busy and sees many patients, he is always on his game, but his staff seem to really be too comfortable to a point where it is a little unprofessional. This office needs a better office manager. The staff has their day to day routines down. But the right people need to be on top of important things , like making sure the reports on in front on the Doctor when his patients are there just to get the results, and also that they follow through with what the doctor says. It shouldn’t be the patient to keep reminding them.

Friendly, warm, outgoing- takes time to explain

Dr. Youseff was the on-call cardiologist when my husband arrived at the ER in cardiac arrest via ambulance. He and the cath lab team saved my husband's life, code blue and all. He treated us with genuine kindness during recovery in the ICU, explaining everything clearly and answering all of our questions. A month later, he's my husband's cardiologist, guiding us through our new "normal" as my husband adjusts to new meds, diet, cardio rehab, etc. Some (not all) of his front office staff is inexplicably rude, but Dr. Youseff and his nursing staff is absolutely worth the annoyance.

He knew within hours of her arrival at ER my mother needed her faulty pacemaker with an emergency pacemaker. Notes in records told him this, tech from manufacturer told him this and witnesses of my moms heart vitals going to zero told him this. He denied all evidence and ordered test upon test in her 26 hour stay until she died from heart failure. More skilled as a coroner than a cardiologist. During her last day on earth and the only hour I left her side in ER while waiting to transfer upstairs, she sustained a fall from her ER bed with full telemetry and nobody responded until I came back and found her naked on the floor with several serious injuries that went undiagnosed and untreated. Contused and ripped open elbow, bruise on head, cut on forearm, contused and cut tailbone. What did these 5 nurses that finally responded do? Wiped her down, threw a new gown on her, put a bandage over her ruptured elbow and immediately rolled her upstairs where she died awaiting care.

Everyone was great. Didn’t have to wait for my appointment.

I saw him this week as a patient at Ft Walton Beach. He was kind and caring. I was very impressed by his apparent knowledge but compassion and concern. His staff is top notch. A perfect example is an RN named Dee. She was cool and calming and has a heart of gold. She was a shining star in my upsetting predicament. Dr. Youssef didn't present a clear treatment plan (actually no care plan), didn't communicate well and was curt/rude when questioned about his statements that couldn't be attributed to treatment as he indicated. I wouldn't recommend any cardiac patient seek cardiac care by Dr. Youssef.
