Excellent Biopsies but No Results Given!!
Dr. Surla called us in to show us an image of my friend's esophagus and to emphasized what a severe case of Barrett's Esophagus he has. It existed for 10 years without treatment. Dr. Surla then recommends biopsies to see if there are malignancies. FOUR weeks pass with NO information given on the biopsy results. Upon calling his office, one of his assistants said he has Barretts. We STILL FEEL UNEASY. No call from the doctor (1) ; no sending the results to our primary care doctor who referred us (2); No coming to the phone to tell the results (3); Inadequate answer from the assistant that he has Barretts, the original diagnosis, with no mention of the biopsy findings (4). Dr. Surla is likable and apparently expert in his performance of procedures, but there's a big part of doctoring he left undone in this case--a BIG Part. How much worry and fear we've been through, thinking the biopsy result were so bad no one wanted to deliver the fatal results.

Live because of Dr. Surla experience.
Colonoscopy done by Dr. SURLA save my life. Colon mass cancer showed up in results.Thanks to Dr. Surla for discovering my condition,Dr. Manolas was recomanded to me by Dr. Surla for surgery permoted on 11-15-23.Tumor was Removeed & no chemotherapy need it.Thanks to Dr. Surla I am now cancer free & I will live longer.Merry Christmas & a Happy New 2024 Year *****Thank you,Cristian Ungureanu 68 years old.

dr. surla use to be my dr and husband for many many yrs. I moved so i dont see him anymore. If anyone wants a good and kind and professional, dont hesatiate this is the dr. to see you will not be sorry. There is no dr like him or ever will be

I’ve been going to Dr Surla for over 15 years now,and not once have I had a bad experience. He is very caring,and truly cares about his patients. I had hepatitis c since I was a child and now I am cured. I gave up hope years ago,but Dr Surla still believed that he would cure me one day. And here I am 2018 cured thank God and Dr. Surla. I now live in Babylon and still and always will come to this office in Queens.

Great Experience with Dr. Surla. I had biopsy results to review. The doctor saw me quickly and clearly explained my results. I would highly recommended him to anyone looking for a good, caring GI.

It is impossible to overpraise Dr. Surla. The Man is a titan of his profession and a fabulous human being who is equal parts an expert, good listener, a medical detective and genuinely kind person. if you need an expert in Gastroenterology and an emphatic, intuitive medical professional, seek no further. Dr. Surla is your man. In the interest of full disclosure: I and my family have been truly privileged to be Dr. Surla's patients for well over 10 years.
