Brusque, almost hostile, seems irritated.
I saw Lalwani for an issue with my retina. She entered the room without introduction, didn't speak to me while she looked at the scans, when I asked a question, she seemed put-off and irritated by it, answering quickly but not thoroughly. It was late on a Friday afternoon, so I thought maybe she'd had a long day. I had a follow-up with her, and she was a bit less hostile but was not thorough, did not explain what my issue was until I asked for details and bad-mouthed my doctor for ordering tests to see if the eye problem was caused by a systemic issue, saying it was 'unnecessary.' She is almost hostile towards patient, irritated that we're there. I don't even know if she's competent. I cancelled my 6-month follow-up and saw another doctor. Please believe the posts here saying she is not a friendly and has a terrible bedside manner. She is concerning. I have no idea why she's in medicine. I do not recommend her at all. Would give zero stars if I could.

Patients deserve better- it is their vision
I was referred here by a friend when I had a detached retina. I called in the morning to confirm that there was availability to be seen and have the necessary surgery soon. After check in, I was asked for a $200 deposit. Never before been billed BEFORE you see the Dr. After a 90 minute wait, she rudely accused me of saying her staff lied as no way can she schedule surgery soon. I cut the exam short and went to a competent compassionate retina surgeon who restored my sight.

I had an incident at work - a turnstile didn't work and a metal pipe covered with Styrofoam got into my eye, which is recovering from corneal surgery. There were a lot of Styrofoam crumbs, I tried to rinse my eye, but the pain got worse. I called Insight Vision Group because I am a patient of theirs, but unfortunately there was only one doctor there on Friday, and it turned out to be Dr. Lalwani. I have never had such a horrible doctor's appointment. I waited for almost an hour. The doctor came in and she said with a sneer: "Well, I can see that you were better a minute ago." as if she was peeking through a keyhole. She tried to "look" into my eye. I know how my doctor does it, but she was far from it. When I asked her to flush my eye, which is what I came in for, she just sprayed lens cleaner in my eye. A burning sensation was felt for a long time. Don't ever go to her!!!!

Competent but...
Dr. Llwani has impeccable credentrials and I had no complaints about her medical advice or the medical treatment I received. Howvere, she's just not good in the care/compassion department. When she's not rushed, she's kind of OK. But she's quite obviously rushed about 1/2 the time. When rushed, she's quite brusque, sometimes bordering on rude. She not infrequently seemed annoyed when I asked her questions. I ended up leaving her practice, as did a friend of mine for similar reasons.

Worst medical experience of my life. Unprofessional, uncaring and worst of all screwed up my retina to the point of no return. When asked “when will my eyesight improve?” After surgery, she replied “my job was to reattach your retina, not ensure you could see” NEVER EVER AGAIN

Dr. Lalwani has been treating me for some years now for a branch retinal vein occlusion--actually, I've had two. Since the occlusion was in my working eye (the other is very weak), there was a danger of blindness--I was progressively losing my ability to read, write, watch television, cross a street. People's faces were fading into oval blurs. Dr. Lalwani improved my vision and has kept me seeing well with regular injections. I've read about patients who see other doctors finding these injections painful, but Dr. Lalwani is so swift and skilled that mine are no problem at all. She responds to phone calls, and you know she's available if you run into trouble. I don't have words to express how grateful I am for Dr. Lalwani's care, competence and willingness to fight for her patients.

I had a sudden onset of what turned out to be, a detached retina, & within a few days had emergency surgery. I am a medical professional & am very particular about my providers & do my homework to see what credentials they have, etc. Dr. Lalwani's credentials & experience are superb & beyond what I could have ever asked for. The first day I met Dr. Lalwani, I was very impressed by her concern & involvement with me & my situation. She herself (not her staff) scheduled my surgery. On surgery date, pre-op, she came in & talked with me & was very calming. I have had three post-op visits with her & each time she has been stellar - always allowing me time to ask her my questions (which I had written down before hand) & making sure I knew what I could & could not do. I live in Aurora, but she is SO worth the trip to Boulder. I could not ask for a better Doctor. Aurora, Aug 2019

Dr. Lalwani saved the vision in my only functional eye after a massive retinal detachment threatened to leave me blind. She was swift, skilled, decisive, and her communications very clear about what needed to be done to ensure a good outcome. Yes, her bedside manner is very direct, and she doesn’t sugar-coat treatment options, she respects her patients’ intelligence and will detail the thought and concern that is behind her choice of surgical or therapeutic choices. She is a perfectionist who will do everything in her power to guarantee a return to as much visual acuity as possible. My eyesight really mattered to her, she dropped everything to get me into her surgical schedule, and made protecting my vision her mission. Her clinical expertise is unparalleled. I consider myself extremely blessed to have been under Dr. Lalwani’s expert care, and to have had her keen judgment, clinical know-how, and surgical dexterity on my side. One year after surgery, my vision is 20/20.

Dr. Lalwani did not even bother to introduce herself. I went in post-surgery, very concerned about a potential problem. Dr. Lalwani seemed annoyed that I was wasting her time, as everything looked normal. On top of all that, I am versed in universal precautions and I did not feel like things were handled appropriately. My eyes have had a discharge and been burning since the appointment.

Dr Lalwani is cut throat. She is blunt and straight to the point. That is the kind of doctor I need. She is caring, compassionate and understanding. I may not get all of my sight back but it would be worse without her help. She is wonderfulnat what she does and I would recommend becoming a patient for any of your needs.

I agree with one star reviewer. I would have put zero stars if I could. I had a horrible experience with Dr Lalwani in Florida. She said she couldn't find anything wrong with my eyes in her testing, there's no explaination to why I was experiencing dimmed/ blurry vision and there's nothing she could do for me. The way she talked to me was rude and made me feel hopeless. Didn't even suggest going to a different doctor. Waste of my money and time. This doctor has no compassion, is arrogant, and very unprofessional. Guess what...years later found out the problem and ended up needing eye surgery. Would never recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Lalwani met me after hours on a Saturday for an emergency retinal exam. I am 40 and had a giant retinal tear and some odd anatomy that make me a complex case. Dr. Lalwani was compassionate but direct when she gave me the news that I would need surgery fairly quickly. 2 days later she performed what has turned out to be a flawless surgery. She put thought into my case to consider what was best for my long term eyesight, and I can't say enough about the quality of care she's provided!

Dr. Lalwani cured my 87-year-old mother of what had been diagnosed as macular degeneration, which it wasn't, and through laser, fixed the problem. I see her now for some problems and can highly recommend her myself.

I went in last week with distorted vision in my right eye and a grey spot in the center of my vision. She said that my eye looked healthy and that there is nothing she can do for me. I booked an appointment with another opthamologist. He took images of my eye and showed me the obvious detachment in the epithelial layer of my retina and the buildup of fluid. Lalwani didn't even take an image or scan of my eye. Waste of money and she also gave off an arrogant vibe. Would never recommend her.
