Unprofessional, rude and cold
This doctor really has a bad personality. Diminishing the patient And not explaining things in detail. He doesn’t have any patience. I was shocked when I asked for a more detailed explanation on my prognosis. He just said….ma’am, I don’t know what else to tell you besides what I already told you. Horrible answer. Of course, I went for a second opinion and never came back to him.

Very Professional Experience
Dr. Shienbaum was professional, patient and highly attentive. The staff was excellent and very efficient. There was a wait, for which he apologized, but it is to be expected in a practice where you cannot always predict patient treatment. I would highly recommend him.

Terrible doctor
Waited 1-1/2 hours to get seen and spent 5 minutes with doctor. He rushed through the whole procedure. No preliminary exam. He diliated one eye only, looked into the eye with his magnifier and that was it. Never had I experience such incompetency. . .

Excellent and professional
I came for a retinal exam. They squeezed me in the same day and I was done 80 minutes after I arrived. No complaints about that, especially as a first time patient. The doctor was very kind and professional and explained everything very clearly. I was very satisfied and would recommend any friends who have a retinal issue.

What a wonderful eye doctor! Dr. Shienbaum was very patient and knowledgeable. He spent time explaining my macula problem and started treatment the same day. I am seeing so much better and couldn’t be happier. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. If you need an excellent retina specialist, this is the doctor for you

My mother came in this morning with complaints about pain behind her eyes. She also had a positive TB and Toxoplasma Gondii test. Her ophthalmologist referred her to Gary Shienbaum as a result. When we walked in the office, the receptionist did not greet us or appear very welcoming. Fast forward, the doctor finally walks into the office and coldly says hello to us, as if he barely wants to. After taking pictures, the doctor then comes in and begins asking what the problem is and as we are explaining to him he assumes an extremely condescending tone as if we don’t have a reason to be there. We asked him if we were interpreting the lab results correctly and he basically said “I don’t know”and did not seemed interested in helping us. We had a hard copy of the lab test with us as well. Overall he said that he could not help us and to go see an infectious disease doctor or primary care. We felt like he did not care much and wanted to be done with us ASAP. I don’t recommend a visit.

I would carefully research what he specialists in. He does not work on Corneas or work with Cataract issues, only will refer you out. Too specialized so be sure he works on what you are worried about otherwise your time is wasted. We spent over two hours waiting to see him and found that he really couldn't help.
