Dr. Cecchi Saved My Life
Dr Cecchi saved my life. I left a popular oncologist when she was pumping me full of chemo I didn't need following an operation for pancreatic cancer. When I complained that I was feeling very sick, she assured me I was getting almost the lowest dose of chemo, and when I mentioned that to a nurse, she said no, that I was getting almost the highest dose, and confirmed that after checking my chart. So I left and went to Dr. Cecchi for care.Dr. Cecchi ran a full battery of tests and all of them came back negative. I did not have any cancer. The operation had got all of it. He monitored my health carefully with blood tests and PET scans for the next four years . The operation was nine years ago and the cancer has never recurred. Most pancreatic patients die within the first two years of Whipple surgery for pancreatic cancer. How many of them die from their system being blasted with a poison they do not need because a charismatic doctor was careless?

Meeting him was a life saver
He looked at me and my chart and put me on Cemiplimab. That was in early December 2019 and almost 5 years later I'm still here. I really wanted to thank him for saving my life but unfortunately he had quit Alta Bates before I had my second infusion. Gary, you asked me to call you Gary, from the bottom of my heart, Thank You, Thank You for saving my life.

I found him brusque and dismissive. I also felt demeaned when he suddenly decided to pat me down (feeling for lymph nodes?) while I was fully clothed including in a jacket, from armpits to a whack in the crotch, while people were watching. He appears to be tired of his job and spoke of wishing to retire.

If you're looking for a more compassionate and thorough doctor, please look elsewhere. Dr. Cecchi was my mother's doctor, and after diagnosing her with late stage, didn't really care for her. Every subsequent visit was short, concise, and always gave a negative outlook in everything. He always reminded us of her amount of time left, never wanting to give new treatments a try, and never even said anything positive or consoled us. Really? Even if the situation is bad, a doctor should be more compassionate, attentive to patient needs, etc. Truly unacceptable!

Made an appointment for a consultation, turns out that his office is in a hospital and I got billed for hospital charges. No ethics in the medical community. Find a different Dr.

I have been Dr. Checchi’s patient for four years. I have a rare blood cancer and it creates many problems. He has a lot of knowledge and deals with each symptom as it arrives. I have four stars because The Herrick Center isn’t for everyone - staff changes often and there can be long waits. I stick with the center because it allows me to get all my treatments in one place - doc, port maintenance, blood tests infusions and transfusions. I see my Dr every 6 weeks. It’s not the most efficient place but I think the convenience of not having to run all over the place to different treatment centers makes up for that. If you come here be patient and bring a snack and something to read. Checchi isn’t a very warm and fuzzy guy but he has given me many options for treatment. Some I’ve taken and some I’ve declined. I feel like he educates me and tells me the truth. I’ve encountered several other oncologist who acted like they knew everything and gave orders. I’ll prefer Checchi’s approach.

Terrible-long wait for a 5 min visit. Recommended chemo without doing a special test on my cancer to see if I even would benefit from chemo. I went to another medical oncologist who recommended the test first. Turned out I do not benefit from chemo! BEWARE!!

Dr Cecchi is a very good doctor that truly cares for his patients. He will spend as much time as needed to explain situations and make the patient feel comfortable about proposed treatments. He may at times seem like he’s not listening to you but nothing goes unheard. He dedicates himself to his patients and even gives out his cell phone number that you can call at anytime of day or night. I would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with cancer.

My hematologist closed his doors to his office without any notice to his patients. I call Dr. Cecchi’s office and told them what happened and I need to see someone as soon as possible due to my blood problem. His office gave me an appointment immediately and his staff was the best. I saw Dr. Cecchi and liked him immediately. I am still seeing Dr. Cecchi and would not leave is care. Before you judge any one by comments and words, check the person out yourself. You are your own judge!

Will not recommend.Very BAD experience for my first appointment at 11 a.m I was told to be there 30 minutes before and was officially registered around 10:45 a.m. At about 12:05 p.m,I was called to his office. At about 12:30 p.m, a nurse came in to take my blood pressure & my weight, and told me that the doctor would be in shortly. At 12:50 pm, there was still NO sign of this doctor. I was EXTREMELY disappointed & wasted over 2 hours waiting!!! I had another appointment at 1:30 pm,I HAD to leave

Herrick (in general) has screwed me over, before. Do you have money to get a blood test? I hope you do. Because this idiot didn't put down the proper codes, and YOU WILL BE STUCK PAYING IT! He does a lot of unnecessary tests. I TRUSTED THIS PERSON!!! LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO ME! He Will probably do the same to you. WANT MY ADVICE: stay away from this one. He is a bad dude! He tried to put me on a medicine once, and this medicine could have killed ME!!! AND HE WANTS TO TAKE THIS POISON!
