Dr. Garry Crummer, MD

My male son had just turned 18 and during the visit Garry Crummer would not let me (parent) go inside the room. Garry said my son was an adult already. I went inside the room for a little and witnessed Garry telling my son that he was an adult and needed to be more independent. Shortly after that visit to his clinic, my son left the house to live with an friend and said he wanted to be independent. From a straight A, captain of a sports team, and part of the high school’s leadership group he went to now having C’s, missing classes, and thinking about dropping out on his senior year of high school to work. Garry is giving this advice to young men who are interpreting it as a person with authority telling them to be independent, which young people might take it in different ways. Garry should not be giving this type of advice as the doctor visit is for health checkups and not therapy. Stay away if you have 16-18 year olds.

Dr. Crummier has a great bedside manner. However I do not feel like he actually cares about my child’s health at all. If all you need is well baby visits I think he’s fine. If you actually have a health concern for your child I’d seek a different pediatrician.

I have had Dr. Crummer as our pediatrician for 6 years with multiple children and have always appreciated his positivity and willingness to listen to my questions and concerns. He is pleasant and friendly with the kids. Doctor is great, office is good, only wish there was a walk-in urgent care avail for the office in Santa Cruz.
