Dr. Garrett Shackleton, MD

I was both scared and uncomfortable when I first met with Dr. Shackleton. Scared, because cancer seemed like a possibility based on my condition. Uncomfortable, because the particular part of my body which was involved is kind of private. Dr. Shackleton entered the examination room and immediately put me at ease. He is a younger man, and he has a modest, empathetic quality which was very much appreciated. We talked about a variety of things, and I was pleased that he remembered everything I said months later when we had the post-op consult. This is an authentically concerned and friendly doctor. I wish all doctors had his bedside demeanor. Dr. Shackleton made me as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. He didn’t think I had a cancerous lesion—but he needed to remove it to make sure. He is also a great surgeon. I recovered within days after the surgery. I noted genuine excitement in Dr. Shackleton’s tone when he reported to me via the portal that the pathology report came back completely benign. I hope to never again have issues with that part of my body. If I do, I will definitely seek out Dr. Shackleton. I give my highest recommendation to him, his staff, and the entire crew at CU Memorial Hospital.
