Dr. Frederick Murphy, DO

I have been a patient of Dr Murphy’s for many years and always look forward to my appointments. If you are looking for a rheumatologist, he is definitely the person to see. Don’t let his soft spoken and caring nature fool you because he is on top of his game when it comes to the latest medications and treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. I am now in clinical remission because of Dr Murphy.

I have been a patient of Dr. Murphy for years. He always takes the time to explain things to me and answer any questions I have. He is excellent in his field and extremely knowledgeable. He definitely cares about his patients. I would highly recommend him!!

The visit went very good. He is easy to talk to about your problems. I just like the nurses that take your blood pressure be more accurate.

Dr. Murphy answers all my questions and is very thorough. Very knowledgeable. Recommends alternatives when needed. Thorough with exams and lab work. Found another diagnosis unrelated to psoriatic arthritis that required immediate surgery and treatment successful. I have been a patient with Dr. Murphy for over 5 years. He is very caring and an expert in his field.

He always comes in the room with a smile on his face and takes his time to make sure you understand everything he is telling you about your care.

Dr Murphy always talks and listens to you. I have Rheymatoid arthritis. When I first came to him I could hardly walk and had such difficulty with my hands. Through different treatments he found the right one for me. His staff is amazing. I recommend Dr Murphy to all. He is a kind and caring individual. Thank you all.

Dr. Murphy is an extremely knowledgable, intelligent, thorough, and thoughtful doctor. He has always explained everything about the treatment in a very knowledgeable manner without being too technical. He not only remembered me from an appointment years ago, but was very sincere with his concern for my suffering. I wish that there were more places and doctors like Dr. Murphy and the Altoona Arthritis and Research Center! I cannot recommend the facility or Dr. Murphy more highly! Dr Murphy is a very kind gentle soul. He takes time to listen to what you have to say and treats Accordingly. He is very genuine and definitely an asset to this practice. I drive over an hour to see Dr Murphy and I WOULD NOT consider going to someone closer to me! Dr. Murphy has done an AMAZING job of healing me! At my initial appointment, Dr. Murphy asked me insightful and informed questions and took his time to truly evaluate my condition. Dr. Murphy was able to diagnose, and subsequently treat, a condition that my previous 2 Rheumatologists never even found. I was diagnosed with a rare eye disease in 2019. I joined a study for that eye disease at Cleveland Clinic in 2022. After 6 months of medication that turned out not to work, my Pittsburgh eye doctor told me he and Dr. Murphy would be happy to work together to give me infusions that they suggested would be the next step to see if it would help my rare condition. What a blessing that turned out to be! Dr. Murphy and his staff are true and caring professionals and have taken care of me since. My eyes are stable and so far I have been able to taper down to a very minimal dose of my steroids which I haven't been able to do since my problem started. It is truly a miracle. Thanks Dr. Murphy for everything!

Dr. Murphy, with his humble and tender bedside manner, used his medical competence and intellectual excellence to introduce me to a new medication which put me into clinical remission for which I am very thankful. He pays careful attention to my concerns and needs with each visit. He educates me on my disease, meds and labs and also collaborates with outside sources if needed to provide me with the best care. He truly is a genuine doctor who shows great care for his patients. I highly recommend him entrusting he’ll do the same for another.

It has been a long health journey for me, with many different doctors along the way. Dr Murphy is the only one who listens intently without rushing or jumping quickly to conclusions. He willingly digs deeper to find the root cause and will review (and explain) multiple solution options, and lets you make the decisions on what's best for you from there - with his guidance when you need it. He makes you feel VALIDATED and comfortable with your diagnoses, and provides a plan. You can tell he truly cares about his patients and their long-term health. I drive nearly 2 hours just to be seen by him & his office, and I would travel even further if I had to. Everyone there is so welcoming and helpful. He is a RARE find in the western medicine world these days.
