Dr. Frank Schmidt Jr, MD

Dr Schmidt was absolutely amazing with my family. He literally saved my life. He genuinely cared about my wife, kids, and family and friends that were there (over 30 of them). He was articulate and made sure my family understood the steps that were being taken along with the risks of each step. Dr Schmidt was not only a great surgeon but very detailed oriented in every step of the process. Highly recommend Dr schmidt for your cardiac needs and care. At our 1 month follow up he even asked about the kids and made sure we told them he said hi. He is a man that truly cares about people.

Dr. Schmidt was a fabulous surgeon and provided a partial lung removal this year..Dr. Schmidt was very clear in his explanation of what was involved in his procedure. His follow up visits were very complete and supportive.

Dr. Schmidt performed emergency surgery on me May 1st, 2008. I was airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, MO, and I will always be grateful that he was the surgeon on call that night. I was given a 10% chance of survival and was in surgery for over 10 hours to repair a shredded aorta and implant a mechnical heart valve. Because of the decisions he made that night and his expert surgical work, I have lived to see five more grandchildren born, enjoy an active retirement, and have 12 more years with my husband and children. Office scheduling annoyances and bedside manner faults aren't that important in the long run. When your aorta has literally blown up and your life is on the line, I will choose a doctor with years of knowledge and expert surgical skills every time. Dr. Schmidt is that kind of doctor.

Dr. Schmidt Jr saved my life when he performed open heart surgery on me, in 2016. one dr recommended i go out of state, my personal dr said Dr Schmidt jr. was very capable of doing the procedure. He completely rebuilt my heart; i was in surgery for 6 hours, and in ccu for a month. i am well today. i think he is an excellent surgeon, and a saint. i would go to him again if i had to have major heart surgery, and i have recommended him to several friends. i cant recommend him too highly.

I would NOT recommend Dr. Schmidt Jr. Hi has serious "tunnel vision" issues in his post surgery check-up procedures. He apparently has no concern with the ancillary problems created as a result of his surgery procedures. If you cannot raise your arms over your head 6 months after surgery it is considered collateral damage that will go away, eventually! Shame SHAME!

Saved my life. Two surgeries. Great doctor.

Dr. Schmidt Jr. seems like a very nice man, but he rescheduled my surgery 2 times, the day before the surgery - I called to get my surgery time only to be told Oh, we were going to all you, your surgery has been canceled - Dr. Schmidt thinks he can get to you at the end of the month. I understand emergency's, but it would have been nice for his office to call me instead of letting me continue to think my surgery would be the next day. I work and my time is just as important as his time.
