Discounted Family Concern for Father's Health
My father, aged 93, has had chronic urinary tract infections resulting in permanent catheter in October of 2023. My sister, a nurse of 30 years has monitored and directed his care for ten years. Based on symptoms my father was exhibiting (vomiting, back discomfort, headache, lethargy, no desire to eat), she suspected his catheter was plugged and not draining. This has happened regularly for months. This was shared with Dr. Lozar, who reacted in a cavalier fashion as if we were overreacting and wasting his time. After drawing bloodwork, which was normal, and send a urine specimen to the lab we were sent home. We requested four times that the catheter be replaced, as it was overdue, but this was ignored. The next morning my dad was worse, and the catheter completely blocked with his bladder distended. Thankfully the urologist who sees my dad while he visits me was able to see us immediately to replace the catheter and diagnose my father. ER visit was a complete waste!

Dr Lozar misdiagnosed my son, presenting with severe abdominal pain. He zeroed in on appendicitis, but when the CT scan he ordered came back negative for that, he sent us home to follow up with a GI. Long story short, my son had a perforated small bowel, requiring emergency surgery and developed sepsis. Had he ordered the CT with contrast, it would have been discovered 36 hours sooner and complication, most likely, could have been avoided.

I have to write again because I was admitted to the hospital and then he followed up on me. I can't begin to describe how much he put my fears at ease. With residuals of brain injury, the staff at other hospital ERs made no precautions for electrolytes & hours on in, no food, no water, I couldn't function. Dr. Lozar really treated me with respect and attended to my concerns. The follow up was just one more way that he made doubly sure that I wasn't just handed off to people who might not get it. (They did and they were all great, but he made sure of it.) And that was doubly comforting. Especially since I know how busy that ER was.

Lousy Doctor. Misdiagnosed, not a very personable dr. Didn’t help me one bit. Waste of time going to the hospital. My regular doctor did more in 5 mins than this guys did. Oh did I say he didn’t even spend 5 mins with me?
