Another doctor who won't help
I visited another neuro first who dismissed me to Dr. Valdivia. My first appointment was positive, and I felt like he was in my corner to help me. I have atypical type 2 trigeminal neuralgia, which is constant excruciating pain in my face. He prescribed the typical medications for this, which didn't help. The meds made it impossible to work, and he wanted me to up my dosage. He actually fought with me over it. He told me we weren't communicating and to go elsewhere. This is the second doctor who has turned me away for standing up for my health. My primary care took me off the meds Valdivia swore were the bees knees, and put me on migraine prevention instead... it's working, just as I suspected it might. If you have TN, this isn't the place for you.

We presented him with Genetic testing that we ordered which showed signs of HTT and he not only dismissed it but then ignored our other symptoms when discussing my wife's issues. This was after about 7+ months of working with him to try and determine her illness. When he couldn't figure it out he basically gave up on us and ignored anything we had to say or asked about.

Dr. Valdivia was at my Neurologist for over 20 years. My experience with him was always excellent. He treated MG (Myasthenia Gravis) condition always with knowledge, empathy and kindness. if there is ever someone that looks for a Neurologist I very highly recommend him. Usually those patients feel like I do. I am very blessed to have been under his care and will say that he took me to remission. Thanks to Dr. Francisco Valdivia I live a healthy life with dignity. "I will always be grateful to him!"

After doing an EMG, he gave a quick diagnosis - "neuropathy". No explanation, advice, prognosis, anything. Just left the room. Really poor medical care here overall.

Went to Dr. Valdivia for suspected Parkinson’s disease. Found him, and his entire staff, to be superior in patient care. Although it was difficult to have the diagnosis, he answered all questions and provided clear direction. He was easy to talk to, easy to understand and willing to spend the time needed.

Good initial exam and explanation about my issues. Including plan of action. Downhill since then. Followup is for all purposes nonexistent. Almost impossible to contact his assistant. No sense of urgency.

My PCP referred me to a neurologist, I made an appointment for my Shingles pain that has lingered since January 15th went to see Doctor Valdivia got there one hour before appointment time, filled in all paperwork and waited and waited my 2:30 I was finally called at 3:20 for my appointment. Doctor appeared very mad, he asked a question, I answered, he asked me to repeat, I did, finally took my face mask down to answer question he practically yelled at me to put it back on… he touched my forehead with a safety pin, closed, then he turns to me asked if I had a question.. he turned to his paperwork and again asked, I said no questions, he very rudely says I can’t do a thing for the pain! As an afterthought he sent a prescription to Nogale Walmart… All contact with the doctor was approximately between 10 and 15 minutes… I started to leave told him I wanted to make an appointment with him in Nogales to avoid the drive… He said NO to Nogales idea, wanted a tele-medicine appt.

They take forever getting back to you and make excuses for their behavior. They are bullies and I won’t tolerate that kind of behavior.

As an long term MS patient, old time RN, then anesthesiologist, then medical school professor and PhD neuroscientist, I know what good neurological care looks like. Dr. V is the worst neurologist I’ve ever visited in 30 years of MS. I’m considering a formal complaint. He did a 4 minute initial neuro exam then told me I was beyond anything but palliative care and sent me back to my PCP. He was mistaken in declaring I had converted to secondary progressive MS. It was brusque, rude, disinterested.

If I could give less than one star I would. I had my first appointment yesterday and I felt like I was an inconvenience to his day. When he heard the word Fibromyalgia I saw him tune out. I have other conditions as well but I certainly found a doc who doesn't believe Fibromyalgia exists. After suffering from severe chronic pain for almost 10 years I need doctors who actually want to help me improve my life, not make it worse. If you are referred to this doc ask for a different provider.
