Misses critical elements
Dr. Willingham is very sure of himself, to the point that he doesn’t listen well and consider patient information. This led to multiple oversights, ridiculous recommendations, all the while I continued to get sicker. It wasn’t until I went to another doctor who took my symptoms seriously, and ultimately saved my life. If you are a patient and have difficult issues, you must advocate for yourself until somebody hears you. Never give up doing that. This doctor simply isn’t that helpful with complicated issues.

Waited 2 hours in exam room my first visit. No reason and no apology. We did not mention this to Dr. Willingham when he arrived (perhaps we should have), but he was very nice and answered all questions. A few months later I called with a medical issue, stressing I was in pain. I received a call back 3 days later (5 days including week-end). I called my primary to have my issue addressed. If you can't reach the doctor, it is just not good for the patient. I also found the staff extremely unfriendly and uncaring. I am changing to another doctor.

My mother was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 inoperable pancreatic cancer. We have seen many doctors lately. Dr. Willingham is our favorite. His bedside manner should be the textbook for all doctors. He makes eye contact, smiles the entire time, speaks in the most soothing tone of voice, and focuses on his patient. We are not from Atlanta and feel so blessed to be cared for by Dr. Willingham and all the Emory doctors.
