Dr. Fabrizio Michelassi, MD

Dr. Michelassi is an incredibly dedicated, focused, generous, and considered surgeon. HIs office is extremely well run and very responsive. His entire team is dedicated to patient care and making sure you are the top priority. I have found myself reaching out to him before contacting my gastroenterologist knowing that he will response and assist me in whatever capacity he can offer. His academic research has helped me maintain my remaining small intestine intact and functioning. And if that isn't enough, somehow he offers me the time and attention to explain a procedure, talk to me truthfully about potential downsides, and has helped comfort me during difficult times. He is an amazing surgeon and a deeply caring man. I will be forever grateful.

Excellent timely care

Dr Michelassi is the nicest guy, professional, knowledgeable, empathetic, kind and doesn’t rush into surgery. I love that he works very closely, together with my gastro to discuss an agreed upon treatment plan, as I don’t need surgery at the moment and hope to avoid it if I can. I know if I do need surgery, I’ll be in the best hands! His staff is amazing, as well.

Had a great visit with Dr Michelassi. He operated on me in 2017. I had some questions from a recent CT scan of my abdomen & pelvic. He assured me everything was okay and not to worry. He was very comforting and I totally trust him. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a knowledgeable experienced & comforting surgeon.

Dr. Michelassi is compassionate, caring and unbelievably talented. He performed my daughter’s surgery laparoscopically when other surgeons said it couldn’t be done. We went home after two days, when other doctors in other hospitals said we’d be inpatient at least 5 days. Dr. Michelassi’s entire team is wonderful. I am in constant contact with his nurse pretty much every day giving her updates about my daughter’s progress. She checks in with us a few times a week. I couldn’t be happier with out decision to go with Dr. Michelassi and NYP hospital.

My visit hit all the high notes. The doctor and his team were there for me ON TIME, and it seemed that TIME was not an issue in how long we had to discuss a surgical procedure. Dr. Michelassi was clear, often asked me and my partner if we had any questions; He always made eye contact, and when we were finished, he let us have more time with the Nurse Administrator and Physician's Asst. who also had no issue with time, were patient and clear in all their explanations.

An amazing surgeon. Performed a complex laproscopic strictureplasty for Crohns when another surgeon thought it impossible to do so. Symptoms have dramatically improved following the operation.

Lifesaving! After 4 Doctors told me I not make it through surgery, I saw Dr. Michelassi at Cornell Medical Center. He assured me that the operation would not put me in danger of dying and that he could perform the surgery with a laparoscopic incision! The surgery was a success and I have gone 10 years without a problem. Five years was the average time I have had to undergo surgery after the last one! Thank you Dr. Michelassi for giving me my life back and living it to the fullest!
