Condescending and dismissive
I, too, regret returning to Dr. Pavlounis for the second time. I assumed she was having a bad day when I met her for the first time. The second appointment was no better – she barely listened to me, had an extremely unpleasant and rude demeanor, and hasn't contacted me about my issue for weeks since seeing her. I will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone.

Made me feel uncomfortable every time
Condescending is the word. I agree with those who describe her using this word. I thought I would not go back but I did thinking maybe it was me, she is a professional and . Maybe she was having a bad day. The next two times she just made me feel uncomfortable again with her treatment !she does not have to be rude but you know you are not welcome there . Unpleasant. Try another Dr.

Great Doctor and Office!
I had a great experience with Dr. Pavlounis! I have been looking for a good internal medicine doctor for a while. She had reviewed my history before the appointment and all of the staff were extremely helpful. The front desk staff were very nice and set up all additional appointments and the bloodwork was done right then and the staff member was so great.

Did not listen to my concerns, dismissive
Dr. Pavlounis did not care to hear all of my concerns and was extremely dismissive and rude when I discussed my struggles with weight. She did not care to explain her reasoning for her suggestions. Did not even do a physical even though my appointment was to establish care. Will be seeing another primary care.

Nice enough, but constantly leaves appointments open online that she can’t actually accommodate. I’ve been a patient of hers for over three years and during that time, out of 4 appointments scheduled MONTHS in advance, she’s cancelled 2 of them (two separate times within the same year) with no warning to me or attempts to reschedule because she was “going on vacation.” When I try to reschedule, I’m told the front desk can’t help me find a time close to my original date that would work for her, and I’m stuck rescheduling my appointment for 6 months from the date — only for it to then be cancelled again! Needless to say I will no longer be seeing her as my physician — based on my personal experience + the other reviews here, it seems like she really does not care about her patients. What a shame.

Her medical facility was more impressive in Customer Relations than she was. I found her distant, disinterested, and after finding out the results of my blood test (high cholesterol) didn't advise whether my meds were strong enough or appropriate. She said, "Good thing you are taking it." Wasn't impressed.

I told Dr. Pavlounis I thought I had PTSD from a traumatic birth and was suffering from postpartum anxiety. She said "Maybe you'll get over it" and had no questions and no care to recommend. Which exemplifies her attitude. She does not ask questions, doesn't listen, and seems uncaring, defensive and condescending. NYU has amazing doctors, unfortunately she isn't among them.

Straight forward and to the point but accurate in diagnostics and remembers little things about me so that’s always nice. Responds quickly on the portal and always helpful when needed. Would recommend. I disagree with the rude comments, she is just not fluff.

Contrary to these other negative experiences, mine have been outstanding. Dr. P took the time to listen to all of my symptoms and concerns, and referred back to my medical history several times to make sure she didn’t miss anything. I saw two citymd doctors prior to, both of whom were quite useless. Very grateful for Pavlounis. She is straightforward, but not the least bit rude.

I agree with the negative reviews seen here. Dr. P. didn't seem to listen at all, presented snap negative diagnoses (wrong, according the the approriate specialist), spent very little to no time at all trying to know my medical situation. All in all, very glad I was finally aable to find a PCP that is genuinely interesed and concerned with her patients' well being

Came in for a physical, and needed to find a new PCP and just went with whoever worked with my schedule; however, I should have looked up reviews before I committed. Dr. Pavlounis didn't even introduce herself to me. In fact, the first thing she said when she walked in was "are you having a physical?" and gave me this raised eyebrow glare - no hi, no intro. (the Nurse had not given me a gown so I was completely unaware). I was also recovering from a cold, and had been concerned whether or not my labs would be accurate. The morning of I called the front desk if I would need to reschedule, and they told me as long as I fasted it should be fine. So, I fasted, only to be told that "the front desk aren't nurses and don't know what they're talking about" (Ouch?? I mean, staff should be aware but, goodness). To top it all off, my breast examination felt like a chicken cutlet getting tenderized. I actually wanted to learn how so I could do it at home, but I don't think I want to learn her way

As others have said, Dr. Pavlounis is very condescending and does not ask appropriate questions or listen to the patient's input. I've seen her regularly for 2 years at this point and have always left my appointments with her feeling at best neutral and at worst actively upset. She's quite combative--somehow every medical interaction we have ends with me feeling like I have to fight for my own health. I've never felt as though we were on a team caring for my health.

OMG I cannot believe what I read. I don't change doctors often. I am very picky. I had to change my previous doctor because I find out that she did not care about her patients. I tried 4 doctors before deciding to work with Dr. Pavlounis. I love her. She is everything I want and need from a primary care doctor. I would recommend her to all my loved ones. She is great.

I had a huge internal stye in my eye and needed to see a doctor asap so I could get a prescription for an antibiotic. My regular doctor wasn't in, so the office squeezed me in to see Dr. Pavlounis. I found her to be sympathetic and friendly. She wrote me a prescription and told me about a home remedy that worked. I was worried about seeing her after reading the negative reviews, but I was glad I saw her. She talked fast, but that didn't bother me.

This woman is so condescending and rude. Gave referrals that I didn’t need. When I didn’t understand something medical she became angry. When I couldn’t answer some of her questions she became obnoxious. I regret not letting her have it. She took me by surprise.

I saw Pavlounis once and was underwhelmed. She did not listen to what I said and did not ask relevant questions, dismissed my request for shingles vaccine [when the CDC clearly indicates that new vaccine is appropriate for women over 50 -- my obgyn confimed this]; suggested 30 minutes exercise and cutting out fried foods to deal with elevated cholesterol levels without asking once about my diet or exercise while I was in the office [I run 4 miles 3 x week and eat no fried food], etc
