Dr. Esteban Gambaro, MD

I was admitted to Winter Haven hospital with horrible pain in my abdomen which turned out to be an inflamed gallbladder. After multiple exams, I was told that the surgeon was going to come and talk to me to let me know what the next steps would be. After waiting for hours and multiple exams and being in horrible pain, Dr. Esteban Gambaro showed up and seemed to be in a hurry. He told me what my exams showed and was in a hurry to move forward with surgery when no one had explained anything to me and I hadn’t agreed to anything yet. When I told him I did not want my gallbladder removed, he seemed to be so bothered by this he made a call while still talking to me telling the person on the phone to cancel everything. He turned around and looked at me and said “well i’m not coming back to convince you” and left without saying anything else. There was no “I hope you feel better” or any kind of alternative options. He just left in a hurry. Even the RN that was present was in shock at how unprofessional and rude this surgeon was. Maybe he was having a bad day but he left a horrible impression. If I ever have to go back to this hospital for a surgery I will make sure that it is not with Dr. Gambaro. I needed to share my experience because it seemed like this doctor that was on call was so bothered that he was pulled from whatever he was doing to do his job and when I told him he was not doing surgery he cared more about his precious time than the patient. Absolutely the worst interaction I’ve had with a “medical professional”.

Good doctor! Staff has very poor protocols. Had a biopsy scope done 3 and a half month ago, no letter of the results or phone call. I finally called their office. Staff said they don't call or send out results, the patient has to call if they want them!!! Should I call every day after the procedure until the results come in? Common sense would dictate the doctors office would call patient. I've had other issues with the staff with hepa rules finally had my family dr's office straighten out.
