This writer stayed at Aurora Medical Behavioral for mental health help in Aurora, Colorado; Erin Smith MD pointed in the hallway at me one day and said, 'Go to your room or else I'll put you on a court order certification for life.' That is legally forced isolation. She also prescribed lithium to me during my inpatient stay and I had a seizure. I also was given chlopromazine at a voluntary stay and also had a seizure. Concerns for safe care, implicit bias, emotional harm, and following the hippocratic oath of 'do no harm'.

I have serious reservations about Dr. Erin K Smith and her practices. She 'treated' my family member at the behavioral health center in Aurora, Co. and held them against their will. She exploited the M1 hold and did not practice her duty of care. There was complete lack of communication and felt that her decision making was profit motivated. My family member showed no signs of any impairments or risk of harm to themselves or others (we saw and observed on our own with the limited visitation slots they allow and also spoke to them via phone every day). I also feel the only reason they were released was due to my constant calling and asking of information which they said they would follow up on but never did. Erin K Smith should be held accountable for her actions and should be avoided by any future patients at all costs.

Apparently, if you call a doctor "stupid" like I did to this super smart person, they add MORE DAYS to your inpatient stay, which translates to $1000's in medical bills. Who likes those? No one. Can't handle a little constructive criticism, ma'am? Perhaps this field isn't for you, I would look into manual labor. USPS is always hiring. If/when I get my Masters in Clinical Therapy, I would be happy to take you on as a client. Best of luck! -18891/10 would avoid like the PLAGUE.
