I’ll be honest, at first I had misgivings about Dr. Akar, her way was confusing to me and I suppose as well I was to her. I made my concerns known and since we seem to have a very good doctor patient relationship. She seems very knowledgeable above and beyond most I’ve dealt with in the past. Once one gets past her what seems aloofness they’ll realize she’s very compassionate and a staunch supporter of your health. For over the phone concerns, her assistants respond rather quickly.

I have been seeing Dr. Akar for a couple years and she has yet to fail me. Shes very professional and compassionate. I can count on running to her with my medical problems and so far, she has led me to a better health. Because of her, i am living today! Last year was a different story. The staff is friendly and Ive known them for years. Again, thank you for saving my life!

DANGER: Avoid this Dr. at all costs. It will cost you your health. I was under her care for a few months and I was stunned at the lack of standard in her "care". She is highly condescending to patients and displays no empathy matched with a grossly unjustified god-complex. Her refusal to care for me landed me in the ER and after, she refused to give the blood test ordered. I didn't find out if I was ok for weeks. DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF OR LOVED ONES TO BE UNDER HER CARE.

The worst bedside manner - does not listen and I feel rushed. Condescending to her staff as well. Empathy is not a trait dr. Akar is familiar with.

To her credit, she is the only 1/2 decent PhD at this office. I've been a patient at UCSF and Stanford all my life, and Sonoma Community Ian the WORST care I have ever received in my life. 1) SEVERAL Diagnosis on my medical record entered incorrect. 2) Reffereals made incorrectly to MRI and Neuro, Dr. Akar ordered nerve studies for my arm, when my problem is in my right leg from Femoral Nerve damage from Lumbar 1-4 fractures. That was the last straw, she refused to call me after several msgs.

My first encounter with Dr. Akar was positive. When I expressed concerns re my condition and she blatantly ignored me on a continuous basis. She is apathetic, arrogant, and potentially dangerous to patients. She gave one diagnosis and then gave a different one, with no accountability. Her reports were OPPOSITE of my status. Her "care" has adversely affected my health and my quality of life. She couldn't care less. Trust me on this. Newly diabetic-type 1 or type 2?! Severe neuropathy or is it?

Poor dialogue with patients, doesn't listen to patients because she's a know it al Doctor. Makes mistakes reporting your condition in Medical reports and practices as a general practitioner in Sonoma. Very poor Doctor due to inexperience or arrogance or both, recommend caution.
