Dr. Erik Benitez, MD

My husband saw Dr. Benitez after a work related injury. He had obvious injury and swelling of one calf and clearly described symptoms of a sprain, rupture or tear, but was put back on full duty as an electrical lineman the same day he was seen before a diagnostic x-ray and ultrasound were even performed. A week later, still without an ultrasound, he was in the ER overnight getting 2 ultrasounds and an MRI because his symptoms had progressed to significant calf and foot swelling and bruising calf to toes. He will now be missing a significant amount of work, wearing a boot while awaiting diagnostic results of the MRI. I'm unsure of the medical basis of his decision since my husband said he did not seem concerned because he did a calf measurement? A non-medical lay person would have seen and heard about this injury and known not to sign off on a return to full duty until at the very diagnostic tests were finalized or symptoms had improved or resolved.
