Extremely Grateful
The issue: I had been mostly deaf in my right ear for all of my adult life. As a musician, this was detrimental. With my hearing continuing to diminish, I sought out Dr. Oliver. The Meeting: I was referred to Dr. Oliver by my audiologist. She considered him to be at the top of his field. I COMPLETELY agree. I told him my situation and my concerns. He explained in detail his recommendation, a stapedectomy, prosthesis, and a tympanoplasty. He told me the advantages and drawbacks. He was clear on the risks but was confident. I elected to have the procedure. The Procedure: The entire staff was professional and personal. I genuinely felt cared for. My procedure was difficult, one of the toughest he had faced, but it went well. The Outcome: I had some recovery issues, I had severe vertigo and nausea. He cleared his schedule and stayed let to personally examine me. I now have almost identical hearing in both ears. My life is completely changed. I am extremely grateful!

Life Changing Procedure!
I had almost TOTALLY lost my hearing in my right ear in a matter of months. I was referred to Dr. Oliver and he determined through a CT scan that my third ear bone (Stapes) had become fixed and wasn't moving. The condition is called Otosclerosis. He operated and performed a stapedectomy and removed the stapes bone and replaced it with a micro prosthesis. HE CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER!!! My hearing is restored and I will forever be grateful for Dr. Oliver! Many THANKS to him and his staff!

Take this review from someone who has seen Dr. Oliver many times over the last few years. Not from someone who might have seen him once. Dr. Oliver has always been awesome with me. Listens to every detail or question I may have. Treats you with respect and talks to you like a friend, not just a patient. He did a surgery on me and it has held up extremely well. Very knowledgeable and will only recommend what he believes is best for your particular situation. Have seen several Ent doctors over the years and he has done the best job by far. The entire office staff has been super friendly. Appointments are easy to make. In a great location as well. I have had many questions outside of our visits and he or his staff has responded quickly and listened to any issue I may have been having and got it taken care of quickly. Strongly recommend you see dr Oliver for your needs.

Saw Dr. Oliver hoping to get answers regarding my SSNHL...was very unimpressed...he literally told me to "use the internet to get more answers" If I wanted to do that, why would I have came to your office? He did not provide any insight on treatment options or as to why a healthy 28 y/o male would have this issue to begin with. He was classified as a neurotologist online but informed me he mainly performed cochlear implant surgery. Maybe Dr. Oliver is a great surgeon, I can't speak for that, but his demeanor on my visit was not welcoming. Needless to say, I drove 3hrs only to find out there was a college intern shadowing him who, he interacted with more than his patient. I understand SSNHL is a complicated issue where there are still many unknowns. However, I followed up with an audiologist with 1/2 of the credentials who specialized in hearing aids and he was 10x more helpful and actually gave me guidance and a plan to deal with my issue.

Dr. Oliver was recommended to me by someone I trusted very much. I can't tell you how thankful I am that he was willing to consider taking me and agreeing to do the surgery on my ear that had a hole in it since 2007 when I went through cancer treatments. I could never give this man enough thanks for what he did to help me. Since 2007 I constantly was having ear infections from water getting in my ear. In June of 2020 he saw me and spent a great deal of his time going over everything to the T. I was scheduled for my surgery in July. I was so impressed with his staff, the hospital staff, any and all follow up appointments, my last one being on October 19, 2020. I am so thankful that he is an addition to my other Carilion Doctors that are all number one Doctors to me.

This was the worst experience of my life. After having inner ear surgery. On September 26, 2019 to reconstruct my entire eardrum and take care of the hole I had there, I developed Tinnitus. Which has been a total nightmare to say the least. To say that the doctor didn't care about what happened is putting it mildly. I did my regular follow-ups after surgery and at the last follow-up, I was informed by the doctor that the hole was back. I was floored. I couldn't believe it. What happened? Why was the hole back? I was given the run around. And by the way, to add insult to injury, his nurse, whom I trusted, was just as rude. Before he came in the room, she was supposed to take my vital signs right? No. She couldn't get the blood pressure machine to work so she said just forget it and that it was gonna be high anyway so that made me very upset but I kept my composure. When I called 2 days after my follow-up to tell ask them about the loud noises I was having in my ear, I was ignored.
