Shouldn’t work with the public
She is extremely condescending, I had a traumatic car accident and needed my leg amputated. She withheld pain medication, or would imply I was exaggerating pain levels. What the heck? And this is while I was in the hospital for over 6 weeks. I am had to have another Dr take over because he didn’t even understand why she was being disrespectful and difficult. Come to find out after complaining to staff and her personal stuff at her office, I’m not the only patient who has gotten this treatment from her. Her office manager is constantly having to de-escalate situations for he . On top of it, I guess she didn’t know I could hear her right outside the door but she was making fun of her other patient before she walked in. Go see Dr Damon Kimes he’s in the building adjacent to her on upper Hembree and amazing.

Not for people with multiple pain sources
Save some money and go to an orthopedic. If you’re experiencing pain in more than one area, go somewhere else. It took 3 months just to get RFA in one area of my spine, and then 2 months to see her again for one more area to be discussed. She wouldn’t consider anything for my middle back if there “wasn’t pain at that exact moment” - I had 3 episodes in the month following where I couldn’t get out of bed without falling to the ground from the pain. She gave me a 3 day RX but wouldn’t refill it so I lost over a week’s worth of pay from missing work due to her refusal to provide shorter term solutions. When I told her about dislocations during my first apt she literally said, “why do they do that?” I had to tell her that’s what I needed her to tell me.They WILL charge you for an anesthesiologist for procedures that don’t have any form of sedation but won’t tell you ahead of time. So expect to pay $900 for an anesthesiologist you didn’t know was in the room every time.

Former Patient
I have been seeing Dr.Kurokawa for awhile now. She can be very pleasant and helpful. Don't let her nice behavior fool you. If you don't have any kind of procedures needed in your future, she will want to find a reason to dump you as a patient. I have been looking at other pain physicians for a good while now.Do your homework. There are better pain management physicians out there. The office doesnt really care about you, or your pain, just future money you will earn for the office. Don't trust them.

Love her!
I don't understand all the negative feedback regarding Dr. Kurokawa. She is young, but EXTREMELY COMPASSIONATE, and DOES listen. If you're going in asking for certain meds, any Dr might look at you with a questionable thought. She treated my pain when I first moved to GA, and when I had to temporarily move to Alabama, I drove 4 hours to see her again, until I could finally move back to GA permanently. She's extremely kind and sincere and I trust her fully. Thank you for being there for me Dr. Kurokawa, and staff, which is also awesome! You've helped me more than you know! Keep up the great work!

Dr. Kurokawa Should Not Be In This Field
he final incident that contributed to this feeling of despair was my interaction (or lack thereof) with the Spine and Pain Center in Alpharetta. At my initial appointment, I shared that my constant pain had driven me to deep depression and asked for a specific pain solution while I awaited a spinal injection 4 weeks from that appointment. I explained to doctor Suley Beth (who was taking direction that day from Dr. Kurokawa) that certain pain meds had offered me immediate relief and was constantly shutdown. I left that appointment knowing that the pain would continue, but still used the meds prescribed to me with no relief. Eventually, after having contacted the clinic asking for other options to my pain and specifically stating my debilitating pain levels and impact to my lifestyle, I was ignored. Not only did I reach out to Dr. Kirokawa, but also rheumatology and neurology. For three days, I heard nothing and ultimately ended up at Emory’s ER where I was treated with the exact same

Would recommend finding an pain physician who has alot more experience working with those in constant and debilitating pain. Dr. Kurokawa just needs more experience and sympathy for those who really suffer, mostly silently, with life altering pain. She is also combative at times regarding how much pain you are in and how that correlates to the prescription she is "willing" to prescribe. Just do yourself a favor, choose someone else.
