Rude doctor
Exact same experience as the precedent comment on this page. No hello or goodbye, not listening to details i can provide or to questions. And overall no diagnostic except do physical therapy, which i already did for 3 months with no result. I really don't recommend if you are looking for a bit of humanity.

Disappointing
I saw Dr. Nam for a shoulder problem. Dr. Nam entered the room without knocking at the door or introducing himself or greeting me, and without looking me in the eyes. He sat down and looked at the computer screen, and discussed the findings of my MRI with his PA. He checked the range of movement of my shoulder, and told me his diagnosis. I have numerous tears in my shoulder. Dr. Nam claimed that that those were not the reason for my pain without further explanation. It was very difficult to receive exhaustive answers. At the end of this short visit he left the room without looking at me or saying goodbye or scheduling a follow up appointment. His PA provided me with the names of Physical Therapy providers. I don’t know if his diagnosis was correct or not, only time will tell. His bedside manners were definitely not, and need improvement.

Brilliant!
Dr Nam did a reverse shoulder replacement on my right arm, which was hanging by threads of a rotator cuff injury I'd neglected for years. Before surgery I could barely lift my arm to shoulder height but I now have hugely increased range of motion and virtually no pain. Dr Nam seemed honestly invested in my recovery and was excited at each visit when the x-rayas looked good and I was improved. I recommend Dr Nam highly! and his PA Isobel is amazing.

He really listened and his staff was excellent
Saw Dr. Nam at his 3000 N. Halsted office. Did wait about 25 minutes but once I was called to the exam room both he and his PA gave me a thorough exam and all the time I needed to relate history of my knee injury. Dr. Nam recommended an MRI and before I left his office, his assistant (Kristina) had gotten approval from my insurance company and found me two MRI sites that were close yo.my home and easy to get to on public transportation.

Rushed, dismissive
I almost walked out of the visit. He was very rushed and hardly listened to me when I talked. There was a resident/intern in the room with him and instead of talking to me and telling me what was going on, he explained everything to the resident. Front office staff is very nice. Overall office/waiting room area looks rundown. This is my second bad experience with IBJI - I won't be going back. I highly recommend Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. Those people are pros.

Dr. Nam was referred to me by my podiatric surgeon. Dr. Nam is fully invested in helping his patients. Last summer I fell and fractured my knee. Fortunately, it wasn’t serious. He x-rayed it, wrapped it and gave me a knee brace to wear. I have severe arthritis in my knees and get cortisone injections a few times a year. He’s smart, precise, fastidious, and gentle.

Terrible visit. Did not say hello and Did not acknowledge or look me in the eye. Did not listen to my concerns or seem to care about me at all. Was very condescending and dismissive. Terrible experience. Would NOT recommend!

Dr. Nam performed about 4 procedures during a shoulder surgery he performed on me a little under 3 months ago. I found him to be an outstanding clinician as he is very thorough each visit--carefully checking my record and then going through various physical tests to track my recovery--which is excellent. He is very pleasant and easy to speak with and I never felt rushed so there's always enough time to discuss any questions or concerns I have had. Highly recommended!

Dr. Nam makes you feel as though you are his top priority -- his only patient. I had a collarbone fracture in the shoulder, which can be a complicated injury to heal and practitioners go both ways on surgery. Dr. Nam went so far as to discuss my x-rays with colleagues and ultimately opted for a conservative approach with close monitoring. It was the right decision. I appreciate that his first inclination was not to do surgery. He carefully explained my x-rays every appointment. Amazing. Caring.

My doctor diagnosed my knee pain as a torn meniscus and referred me to a sports medicine clinic to see Dr. Nam. He examined my knee, asked pertinent questions and looked at my x-ray and MRI. He presented three options and we decided that in my situation, surgery would be prudent. The surgery unfolded as expected and now, the unrelenting pain I was in for 3 1/2 months...is gone!!! Thanks to Dr. Nam, I'm back to my daily health club routine and I'm grateful to him for making it possible.

As soon as I had an appointment (they carved out time for me the day after I called) Dr. Nam evaluated the problem and gave me several treatment options. I agreed with his assessment that based on my health and age, surgery was the best option. I can't express how happy I am with the results. It's now almost 4 months later and I have a full range of motion, returning strength, and no side effects or lingering pain.

Dr. Nam is an incredible knowledgeable doctor. I've loved working with him on recuperating from a severe knee injury. I know I'm in great hands with Dr. Nam. His assistant Tony, as well, has been a tremendous help! Thank you

I consider Dr Nam to be a top notch surgeon. I had two total knee replacements done and my husband had rotator cuff surgery. Everything went extremely well for all three surgeries.

I had a massive tear in my rotator cuff (unbeknownst to me at the time). Dr. Nam didn't know it was as extensive as it was, either, until he performed the surgery. Nonetheless, he was able to fully repair the tear and complete the procedure successfully. I was extremely satisfied with his professionalism, his explanation of my condition and his ability to perform the surgery with positive results. The rehab/PT is going to be quite long, but at least the surgery went great thanks to Dr. Nam.
