Excellent Colonoscopy
This was my 5th colonoscopy (I have a strong family history). Scheduling was easy, I did it over the phone. All of the staff at the surgery center, including Dr McConnell, were friendly, professional, and efficient. Everything was explained to me and my questions were answered. The colonoscopy went off without a hitch, and I was on my way home with my driver 1.5 hours after arrival.

Awful Experiences
I have had 2 surgeries with Dr. McConnell and I will never step foot into her office again. The morning of the first surgery I was running a 102 fever, throwing up repeatedly, and having breathing issues. I was left in an exam room for about 2 hours - unattended and no one bothered to check on me.Trying to schedule the follow up was a nightmare. The staff who answers the phone is super rude. When I finally able to schedule the 2nd appointment I was hopeful that it would resolve the issue - it did not. During the post op exam for the 2nd surgery I was told she was unable to find the root cause and the infection may come back - that was it. She was uninterested in trying to figure out the root cause and was equally disinterested in giving me a referral for a doc who could figure out the issue. A couple thousand dollars later the issue is still present and I am still in a ton of pain.

Mediocre Surgeon
Dr McConnell doesn't know how to apply local anesthesia. She failed to 'Buffer' the Lidocaine before an In-Office Surgery which caused great pain. This was probably due to the Doctor not continuing her education and following up-to-date procedures in administering anesthesia .

Beware - Doctor McConnell is not good at her job..
I'm not one to disparage doctors, but this time, I must. I spent three years and had three surgeries by Dr. McConnell to resolve a fistula I have. She failed to accomplish anything during this time, and I still have the original problem, only now it's worse and is more frequently getting infected. She is not good at her job and I wouldn't trust her. Today, I met with a new surgeon in Phoenix, and he confirmed what I thought. I told him that I wasn't sure that Dr. McConnell knew what she was doing. He told me, 'I wouldn't allow Dr. McConnell to operate on my dog.' I have never heard a doctor so directly and forcefully say something like this about another doctor. Thankfully, I am now in good hands and I will be able to get my problem resolved and get back to my normal life.

Very helpful Dr and Staff!
I visited 2 other practices concerning abscess with little explanation and treatment plan. I then contacted Dr. McConnell. The staff was great, got me in immediately (right before Xmas). Dr McConnell is awesome! She examined me and had a plan immediately. Surgery went great. I am in the process of healing and every time I have a question or concern they answer and accommodate my needs. Thank you very much!

Horrible Provider!!
This provider did unnecessary hemorrhoidal surgery in me when she missed my colorectal cancer!!! She almost killed me. She isn’t qualified to treat a Rat. Stay away from her if you want to live.

Unbelievable waste of time
First visit she quickly identifies a perianal fistula. An issue that i have had since 1997. Next visit she claims to have never said that and that its from folds between my skin. It was mind-blowing to listen to such negligence. I was, for 9 DOCUMENTED years, under-dosed on a biological infusion drug from a local small town gastro administered by a local hospital and gastro. Ive continued to travel at great lengths for someone to heal ME. As ive continued my medical journey, ive had the doctors slander my name and the events that have occurred. dr mcconnel is guilty of continuing that same slanderous behavior. She will listen to colleagues. She will listen to those that cover their collective a$$ but she will not listen to the patient. Just like police cover their a$$ so do doctors. Dr mcconnel is part of the problem, not the solution. In addition Abrazo arrowhead is disgusting and mcconnel fits right in. She rings the same bell as the politician. Shady Staff is nice/polite.

Yes, yes, and yes. Dr McConnell has been my colorectal doctor for a few years now. Recently she had to perform surgery on me which has been a life changer. Dr. McConnell and her staff are the best. I would highly recommend Dr. McConnell to anyone needing this sort of doctor/ medical care. Her credentials are exemplary.

Dr McConnell said I need surgery for a fissure and a small fistula. I was in a lot of pain and she told me I would be surprised at how quickly the pain would stop after the surgery. I had the first surgery but the pain was still very bad so she wanted to do another exam under Anastasia. At that time she ended up doing more surgery but the pain is now worse than ever. I have contacted another Surgeon to look at the problem because when I reach out to Dr McConnell they don't return my request for help. My only hope is that she has not done more damage with the surgeries she has done on me. Be very careful when she says you need surgery because you may end up with more pain than you started with.

We are fortunate to have a talented surgeon with Dr. McConnell's skills here in Arizona. I had a poorly executed procedure for prolapsed Hemorrhoids performed in 2004. That caused a restriction and scarring from the circular stapler. A subsequent prolapse caused by the restriction was resolved in 08 by laser surgery. A new prolapse and fissure caused by the restriction occurred recently. Dr. McConnell rapidly diagnosed, explained the problems and corrected the fissure, prolapses, scar relaxation and dual sphincterotomy. Incredibly considering the amount of correction performed there was minimal post surgical discomfort. In fact I only used two non narcotic pain pills. At the four week mark things were pretty back to normal. Back to tennis, hiking three miles a day etc. My only regret is that I wish I had gone to see her earlier.

My experience with her was very good, no complaint. The only complaint I do have is with getting a procedure scheduled. I was told that someone would call me with in 2-3 days. Two weeks went by and I never got a call so I called her and did get it scheduled. That's the only issue I had.

I too had an hour long wait, with two male patients who had arrived after I did seen first, and then when I threatened to leave her staff located her, she rushed in to do a post-op exam, and then rushed out. Her typed paper on post-op care was rift with errors, typos and bad grammar, plus incorrect words. And this is a medical professional who should have proof-read what was being typed by her staff. She did not remove the "tag" I had originally asked her to remove, however, went internally to remove interior hemorrhoids (I guess). Two years later and I'm still with my exterior "tag", and having hemorrhoid issues.
