Terrified of having hip surgery, but definitely needing it, I went to Dr. Gausden on very specific and glowing recommendations. She exceeded all of them. Not only was she patient, calm, warm, and compassionate, she was also very straightforward and realistic. Both she and her staff were extremely generous with their time and understanding. They went to great lengths to make sure that I was comfortable with every part of the procedure as well as billing, PT, etc. She is simply a fantastic, talented surgeon and a wonderful, perfect person to take you through a surgery that presented nothing but fear to me. And in the end, she did an absolutely amazing job. I have yet to feel ANY pain, literally. And my recovery has been quick and painless as well. I won't pretend to know how she and her team accomplished this, but I am eternally grateful to her, her staff, and HSS. They made an experience that terrified me into a simple morning procedure that eliminated great pain in my life.

Dr. Gausden is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. She and her team are sincerely caring with a compassionate, warm demeanor that immediately puts you at ease. Each of Dr. Gausden’s team goes out of their way to ensure the best patient experience. Whenever I have a question, it is answered in understandable terms; if I ever have to leave a message with their office, it is promptly returned. Dr. Gausden is expert, thorough and kind. Six weeks post-op after TKR and my physical therapist tells me he has rarely if ever seen such progress at this point. At the pre-op visit I asked about robotic surgery because a friend had encouraged it. On the Friday prior to Monday's surgery Dr. Gausden phoned me and said she was reviewing my case and thought she could do a better job with computer-aided surgery but without robotics. I was quite impressed she remembered and took time to explain.
