Dr. Hothem was a God sent for me. Thank you sir…
Dr. Hothem explained everything he was going to do with my surgery and an exact timeline I would have to get back the way I was before the surgery. I’m so thankful he did my surgery because I trusted every word he said to me and my family about how I was going to feel until my body got strong again. I’m so grateful for him and the whole SOAR Institute staff for getting me back to living my life like before. Thank you all and God bless and I pray y’all have a blessed New Year and many more…..

Super responsive to concerns
Dr. H was super responsive to all concerns. Made time to meet outside of normal scheduled appointments to address very serious concerns about the pending disc replacement and fusion surgery. Explained procedure clearly. Surgery went as planned and was very successful. Follow up has been outstanding. Office visits were on time, efficient and fact based. No BS. Staff was also excellent, available and caring. Highly recommend Dr. H.

Amazing treatment from a terrific doctor. A+
From the moment I walked in the door I felt I was in good hands. Dr. Hothem’s nurse is fabulous and helped me follow through with everything both pre and post surgery. Dr. Hothem gives one a very safe feeling (pretty tough after a car accident leaves you in constant pain). After replacing 2 disks, I was up and doing everything (except lifting more than 10 lbs) I did prior to the accident. His follow-up was amazing; he checked in on me incredibly early in the morning after surgery. The best doctor with the best team.

Do to Direct Orthopedic instead!!!
A complete traumatic experience. I was injured in a car accident and then dealt with terrible medical treatment for too long. The scheduling department is dysfunctional at best. They called me to change my appointment because the surgeon wasn't in that office and that's who I needed to see. So I agreed to drive 45 minutes to a different location only to get there and find out he was never scheduled for that office either. 1/2 day of work wasted. The PA then schedules me for a follow up with the surgeon, so I take another 1/2 day off only to find myself in yet another appointment with a doctor but not the surgeon. Appointment number 3 I finally met with the surgeon who was rushed, and very unconcerned about my pain. I was told to "wait it out" for 4 weeks to see if my body would heal on its own. (I have a torn labrum as revealed in an MRI which I had before making my first appointment with SOAR). Offered no pain management at all. At this point I had already lost 10lbs due to extreme pa

Dr Hothem was just the best. He explained every procedure thoroughly with care and compassion answering all my questions. He doesn’t jump to surgery first but recommends alternatives when appropriate.

I saw Dr Hothem at the SOAR Institute over a period of time after I was rear ended by a texting driver while riding my motorcycle. I could not have wished for a better experience. The care I was given was excellent. I was made a participant in the process the entire way. He explained everything in normal everyday language, not medical jargon. I asked a lot of questions and each was answered even when i was asking for worst case scenario outcomes at each step. We had several fantastic conversations unrelated to my health which is unusual in the hustle and bustle of our medical system. It made me feel like a person, not a case file to be hurried through the doors. I went from being in agony just doing normal every day things; getting the mail, making coffee, etc, having to lay down most of the day (just being upright was painful!) to living a relatively normal life. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone for orthopedic/ spinal care. Thank you so much Dr Hothem.

Dr. Hothem treats the entire patient and actually listens. His first solution is the most non invasive treatment and surgery is his last option. Unlike other surgeons, he focuses on mental health, exercise and diet. By far, the most compassionate bedside manner and worked hard to alleviate my fears. He thoroughly explained everything he was doing and was sure that I understood and that all of my questions were answered. I have since referred him on several groups online. I was horrified knowing I had to ultimately get a fusion in my neck and 7 months later you cannot even see the scar- this was a major fear of mine. I began seeing him in June 2019 and I now feel like a new person- my range of motion is back to 90% and the neck pain is virtually gone completely. Dr. Hothem is patient, trustworthy, extremely educated, a great listener and probably the biggest cheerleader that a patient could have. Proud to give him a glowing review!

Dr. Eli is very down to earth and provides a very realistic perspective on treatment as well as the possible outcomes. He and his team are extremely thorough, respectful, and friendly. His team always finds a way to treat the whole patient and not just the problem which provides the patient with the best possible environment for healing. The most important goal to Dr. Eli is that his patients are able to live their lives to the fullest, which he and his team accomplish spectacularly.
