I wish I could give ZERO stars. We wasted and lost 6 months due to his lack of monitoring. My father and I saw Dr. Kirshner when he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer back in November. I'll start from the beginning: 1. November 2021 - First appointment/consultation: Dr. Kirshner brought us into his office and was reading someone else's patient chart to us. "OOPS, I HAVE THE WRONG CHART IN FRONT OF ME." He then begins to go over possible options with us, but not to worry because there's no rush. We were eager to get testing done to determine a treatment plan and he tells my dad "THERE"S NO RUSH, YOU DON"T LOOK LIKE A GUY WITH STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER." 2. December 2021- Dad gets Covid in December and can't get over the post-Covid cough. Calls the office. Not only is the office staff unresponsive and not returning calls in a timely matter, but they are extremely rude. THEY TOLD A STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER PATIENT GETTING OVER COVID TO TAKE A COUGH DROP AND SEE YOUR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN. 3. January 2022 - After getting the same opinions from other reputable doctors in the area including NYU, all doctors agreed on the same treatment and to get scanned again after 6 weeks of treatment to see if it's working, EXCEPT Dr. Kirshner. "YOU DON'T NEED A SCAN AT 6 WEEKS, I CAN HEAR THROUGH A STETHOSCOPE THAT THE FLUID IS DOWN AND YOU'RE DOING WELL." 4. February/March 2022- Dad still doesn't feel well dealing with the same cough. He starts to feel discomfort again in his lungs where the fluid was. Still very little response from Dr. Kirshner and office staff. 5. April/May 2022 - After continued discomfort, we insist and beg for another scan to be ordered. Guess what? The scan reveals all the fluid PLUS more has returned. The fluid gets drained for analysis. After over a week we finally get results. Dr. Kirshner says "SO IT APPEARS THE TREATMENT ISN'T WORKING..." He proposes some outdated surgery. 6. Present - We switched to NYU where we are very happy and told our new doctor about our experience with Dr. Kirshner. The lack of monitoring and information was very shocking to our new doctor. We were told that the surgery Dr. Kirshner proposed was extremely outdated and that it was surgery that was done 10 years ago. Today, there are so many more modern treatments and surgeries. Point being...sure, Dr. Kirshner may be an experienced "old school" doctor with 5 star reviews for whatever reason. But this was our personal experience. His lack of monitoring put us back to square 1 and we lost 6 months with him.

This was my 3rd visit for 3 different conditions. Each time I was extremely impressed with his oversight, his manner and his compassion, as well as his sense of humor. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Kirshner and also his staff at both Luckow in Paramus and Westwood.

When my mom was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Stage 4 we were referred to Dr. Kirshner from our Neurosurgeon. It was not easy to accept this terminal illness on a woman who was otherwise healthy. From the moment we arrived in his office we were comfortable and confident in Dr. kirshner. He was patient and kind and gently discussed her terminal illness with compassion. Every-time I called he picked up the phone and believe me there were many calls. If we wanted to speak to him before he went into moms room, he always did. His office staff was always pleasant and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dr. Kirshner he is without a doubt a top doctor.

While Dr. Kirschner has experience and impressive credentials, a critical component of a successful Dr/Patient relationship is the Dr listening and taking the patient seriously. 18 months into treatment and newly on Avastin, Dr. Kirschner minimized our reports of my husband wheezing and having shortness of breath and he didn't recommend further testing. I finally chose to bring my husband to a pulmonary DR and that landed my husband in ICU with massive pulmonary emboli. We fired Dr. Kirscher.

I called Dr. Kirshner's office to possibly make an appointment and with out ever meeting me his receptionist asked me to fax a copy of my results for him to read, and he would then decide if I needed to be examined. I was called back with in 24 hours with an answer. I was amazed that a busy physician took the time out to read results for me not even being an established patient. Not to mention his receptionist was extremely caring and such a pleasure deal with. I highly recommend this office.
