Very Rude and Condescending
I cannot recommend to stay away from Dr. Kamel more! She kept me waiting for 90 minutes. When she arrived, she gave me a psych eval even though I asked to start HRT! She then told me all the terrible side effects of going into early menopause and why I didn't do anything sooner. She made me feel so small that I cried. After she told me all this, she then told me I'm not a candidate for HRT! She also would not do my annual at the same time as the HRT discussion and I had to schedule 2 months out. She is ridiculous. I went to another doctor who went through risk and benefits of HRT, put me on it and also did my annual exam at the same time. I have also had a follow-up on a dexascan with the new doctor within a month. Go elsewhere like I did!

Dr. Kamel is wicked smart! I love her
The office is well run, everyone is kind and helpful. I feel fully supported with Dr. Kamel as part of my Northwestern wellness team. She's an exceptional Doctor, I drive 2 hours to see her and am happy to do so. She is the best obgyn I've ever had.

Would NEVER recommend
This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor I have ever seen. Dr. Kamel was the snarkiest, rudest, most condescending doctor I have ever met. She called me overweight (I'm not....) and told me I needed to consider eating less. Highly unprofessional. I'm also a breastfeeding mom, so eating less is not healthy. She also made me wait literal hours in that cold, uncomfortable room until she came in to see me (for all of 10 minutes - mostly just to call me overweight). DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Chronically Rude & Late
I agree with every other reviewer here that you can expect to wait for hours on literally every appointment you make. I was a patient for years because as the positive reviews point out, she is a gifted diagnostician but NOT gifted enough to compensate for her chronic lateness, snarky and rude bedside manner and yes, as other reviewers pointed out...her cup runneth over with herself. I can also relate to the other reviewer who said she took a crack at their weight as I am about the same size, and FAR from overweight, but perhaps she is hung up on the anorexic beauty ideal so, whatever.

I have know Dr. Kamel for about 20 years. Since leaving Chicago, I drive 3 hours each way for my appointments because I am unwilling to lose the exceptional expertise and personal care she provides. Dr. Kamel is caring, up to date on the latest advances, and fiercely proactive. I highly, highly recommend her.

Believe the reviews
Believe the reviews about Dr. Kamel. I didn't even get to see her. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment. About 10 minutes after my appointment time another patient asked how much longer until her appointment and the receptionist said about another 30 minutes. The patient had already been there for 30 minutes and it was going to be another 30 minutes for her appointment and only after that would it be mine. It is total arrogance for the doctor to think she could leave a patient waiting for over an hour as a matter of course. Emergencies happen. Not every time. Needless to say, I left. I will not be rescheduling there. No one has that kind of time.

Waited UNDRESSED for 1+ hour to see her and she spent only 15 minutes with me. Will never come back there, they can't disrespect patients and their time.

During each visit there was a several hour delay between the scheduled time and actually seeing the doctor. During one- I came for an HSP- completed my transvaginal ultrasound after which she said 'be right back' and left undressed on the table for over 3 hours waiting without explanation or apology. I question her knowledge base/ ability- as during the HSP she somehow was unable to inject saline far enough to fully visualize my uterus (other gynecologist and body radiologists I've discussed my case with question how that is even possible) and recommended I come back for hysteroscopy as the HSP done by her was nondiagnostic. There are multiple additional concerns that I had with her care and knowledge, but essentially, I would not recommend.

Dr. Elena Kamel is very skilled, highly intelligent, thorough, has an excellent bedside manner, attentive to my needs, great listener follows up very quickly, She saved my life with her excellent exam technique, I would recommend her to any of my family & friends, in fact I did on Facebook.
