Dr. Elena Averbakh, MD

I saw Dr. Averbakh for my chronic pain. 1st visit: I asked about a walker for support and was told I’m TOO YOUNG to need a walker. 2nd visit I wish I’d never attended: I received 12 cortisone shots running down my neck and spine for my nerve issues. The following day I was sore, my movements were limited, and it became pain I’d never experienced before. I emailed asking if she can help, saying I couldn’t get out of bed, my husband had to carry me when I did leave bed, I had tremors, and there was no relief to be found. I cried out from the pain when my husband put a pillow under my arm. It has been the worst pain of my life. I received a response telling me to DRINK WATER & DO YOGA, nothing else. I thought the next sentence was going to offer essential oils, it was so ridiculous. Telling a disabled person to do yoga in response to this level of pain was heartbreaking, and not possible. I’d never felt more unheard nor unseen by a medical professional.
