Prostate Surgery- absolutely excellent in ALL ways
Dr. Schaeffer is an amazing physician and person. He explained things to me in a very direct and forthright manner and I felt very comfortable with him. I was very fortunate to have had him as my surgeon and thanks to him I am now cancer-free. I would very highly recommend him without hesitation.......he saved my life.

Arrogant and he did a lousy job. The office staff is about the same. Avoid.

Initial visit was very factual. Open and transparent dialogue. Answered all my questions. Very professional and timely. Emphasized ability to reach him pre/post surgery at any time of day on any day of the week - impressive!

Dr. Schaeffer was recommend by a friend of mine who also had his prostate removed. Dr. Schaffer and his staff were amazing. Professional, patient, knowledgeable. In short, they are the best of the best and I recommend them without reservation.

Dr Schaeffer is very smart and detail focused. You want and need this so nothing is missed. A Chicago suburban urologist performed a biopsy that showed little non-aggressive cancer then never rationalized it against a rising PSA. When Dr Schaeffer re did the biopsy using MRI scans he found aggressive Gleason 9 cancer and is treating it. If I had listened to the first urologist I’d be wasting life saving time. Schaeffer is the real deal.

Dr Edward Schaeffer is the best dr in the states and has the living clients to tell you that. He saved me.went to two drs before him and they said chemo and one dr almost killed me just with her biopsy. This is the place to go to save your own life. He is very well qualified and has the learned knowledge to help you. He has been on world wide news with Ben Stiller saying how important it is getting your simple psa blood test to save yourself and just do it. The staff is great too!

Dr. Schaeffer had just moved to Northwestern and still had not unpacked boxes. With all that, he emailed when we could speak , took all the time I needed, was very professional, moved up my date for surgery and has been available for me anytime over the past year . My surgery was a success and my recovery and subsequent tests are perfect. Words cannot describe how grateful I am.

This doctor was arrogant, very short with his answers and adamant about doing surgery right away. I had been diagnosed with low grade, slow moving prostate cancer and was doing Active Surveillance but this doctor scheduled me for surgery ten days later on his day off no less and wouldn't discuss alternative treatments. He left me incontinent and completely impotent with little to no follow up consultation. I never should have let him touch me.

Provided 0 feedback after a cystoscope. It was clear that he hadn't read my chart before the appointment and knew nothing about my history. If he'd spent two minutes reading my chart/history beforehand, and spent 1-2 minutes with me after the procedure, I'd have nothing to complain about..but he couldn't find the time. Amazing. I get more attention and explanation from my landscaper.

Although Dr. Schaeffer talks a good game prior to surgery, in my case, I was left with permanent erectile dysfunction. When it became clear that it was permanent and I wanted to discuss it, he became cold and heartless. He obviously has difficulty dealing with his failures and so based on his horrible treatment of me, I gave up seeking solutions. He's a young bright talented surgeon, I suppose, but left me with a very difficult condition with absolutely no sympathy whatsoever.
