Seasoned Orthopaedic Dr. Very thorough!
Dr. Hemphill takes time to listen… at least from this patient’s observation. He is moving cautiously through every step and explaining the process as he goes. I would highly recommend Dr. Hemphill for any orthopaedic concerns you might have.

This doctor is either too busy to deal with non surgical cases or totally lacks empathy. During my visit, Dr Hemphill sharply bent my knee against the natural way (towards the ceiling!) and was surprised when I yelled. He wasn't in the least interested in my case as I said I was not considering surgery. I had to ask him to give me literature on useful exercises to strengthen my quadriceps.

It's unfortunate that he still the only orthopedic doctor in Lexington, but it's well worth going to Augusta or Roanoke to see someone else. Hemphill has a terrible bedside manner; he does not know how to interact with patients. Rude to the point that he made me cry, abrupt, did not explain what was going on or the procedure I would need. Didn't ask about my medication, how I was feeling, or if I needed a refill. His behavior was just unprofessional and made me doubt his skills. Never going back

Dr Hemphill did my left knee surgery went good but dr Hemphill did my right knee about 4 months ago and he made my knee worse then it was

Dr. Hemphill is simply phenomenal. He operated on my ankle Jan 11 2015 and I have been in his capable care since. my surgery was skillfully completed with no complications. He is patient, thorough, professional, and so kind. I am not an easy patient, but he and his staff went the extra mile to ease my mind. His staff is equally wonderful. They treat all patients with warmth, sensitivity, discretion, and respect. I recommend his practice to anyone anytime anywhere for any ortho reason. 5 stars!!!
