Dr. Edward McFarland, MD

Dr. McFarland was very kind and compassionate and also very knowledgeable not only with orthopedic conditions but also the autoimmune diseases I have.Dr. McFarland looked at the whole picture and referred me for the tests I needed. He gave me an injection right away for pain and also called me right away with the results of tests. He also explained everything so well and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him!

I am a patient of Dr McFarland for my left reverse total shoulder replacement done in August 2023. This was my 6 month checkup. His fellow Dr Miriam Weinberg Tannenbaum was present too. I like her so much. She is planning to join a practice in Ft Lauderdale Florida at the end of her fellowship. I highly recommend her. Both doctors showed me my current x-ray of my prothesis. They also examined me and discussed my at home physical therapy, saying that I will continue to improve on my range of motion. I am very happy with my replacement and their wonderful care.

I was referred to Dr. McFarland after having a rotator cuff repair. I have been having constant pain, difficulty sleeping, and not being able to perform daily tasks. After 2+ years it has become extremely maddening. He took the time to listen, was very through, communicated compassionately, he was understanding, and made me feel more comfortable. I love working and painting. I am hopeful he will help me be able to do what I love again without being in pain or having limited mobility.

I went to see Dr. McFarland after I injured my left shoulder in a fall. I’m no stranger to Dr. McFarland, since he completely remade my right shoulder 4.7 years ago! Xrays were taken, followed up by an MRI. Awaiting results. Not only is Dr. McFarland brilliant, he is compassionate. I love him!

Prior to meeting with Dr. McFarland I have had the misfortune of having 6 shoulder surgeries on my right shoulder and 3 on my left shoulder (both domestic and internationally). I recently had my right shoulder with a reverse arthroplasty performed by Dr. McFarland. From my first meeting with Dr. McFarland he gave me his full and undivided attention and addressed any and all questions. He took all the time needed to understand my complex shoulder surgery history and suggested a plan of action that no surgeon had thought of before due to the number of surgeries performed on that shoulder. The surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, but particularly was a complete success. He minimized the post op pain and he and his staff addressed any/all post op issues. I need to go back for my left shoulder, but then hopefully I will be done. He, and his team are the best I have ever experienced, and strongly recommend him.

He greets patients with a warm hand shake and a smile. I do not feel rushed. He answers my questions and concerns with courtesy and respect. He is the finest surgeon I have ever dealt with. I am very grateful I was referred to Dr McFarland. He is my hero.
