Wonderful Doctor
I’ve been seeing Dr. McCarthy since 2010. He treats his patients with much respect and care. He has a winning personality which can brighten the saddest of days. For a patient with legitimate, serious medical needs, Dr. McCarthy will go to the ends of the Earth to make your life easier. All physicians should view “A Day In The Life” to learn the importance of bedside manner. His staff is fabulous. Highly recommended.

Been going for years, but..
While I have been a long time patient, I never get return phone calls on after hours. If I leave a message on the nurse line, good luck. The best way to reach any of them is through their app. I recently had major surgery where I wasn’t allowed to drive yet they wanted to see me. I wanted a telemedicine appt, wouldn’t budge. So I had to treat myself at home by the internet and nurse friends. I had liked the PA until a critical error was made, no apology given. You can go weeks without getting a results of blood tests, even if they are life threatening. I shouldn’t have to look it up and call them and make my own appointment. What I do like is that he listens. He knows your history, and where to go from there. But I feel like it’s usually a rushed appt especially with so much wrong.

Excellent Doctor Compassionate Soul
I’ve been seeing Dr. McCarthy for a long time. I am seen at a university teaching hospital out of state for a severe case of a rare disease but I see Dr McCarthy frequently to check that the motor is still running. He willingly does referrals. A genuinely good soul, Dr McCarthy stays abreast of a patients various medical needs and does whatever is necessary. I have never felt rushed or dismissed. Every person in this office, from reception to nurses to billing and scheduling is incredibly kind and willing to go the extra mile. I think everyone feels better around Dr McCarthy

The way he told my mother she was dying without caring. She gave up and died two weeks later. I remember his mood that day. He couldn’t of cared less, I wish him the same on his last days.

Every appointment I had was probably 7 minutes long. Leaving no room for in-depth talk about symptoms, only broad, general terms. He is extremely conservative with benzodiazepines (which is fine) but over prescribes GABA drugs like it's candy. When I got a second opinion on what I was prescribed, my new doctor was shocked. Be careful. If you like quick appointments where you just need to get a refill, then this is your guy. But he can't help you find a new medication or combination.

I have been a patient of Dr. McCarthys for the past 7 plus years. He has always been very attentive, answers all questions and to to the point, which i find refreshing. Lab work is completed in his office along with x-rays..saves making appointments at hospital. The office does a excellant job scheduling.. as wait times are minimal. There has been times when a immediate appointment was needed and the staff always did their best to make arrangements on short notice. We appreciate Dr. mcCarthy and his staff.

I have been a patient of Dr McCarthy's for 20 years. I even took my child out of a pediatrician's practice to see him. He always listens to what I have to say and even knows my health record without having to look it up. His staff is well accommodating for emergency visits. I never have to wait long and his nurses are always on top of my medications and yearly exams. His office is clean and I feel safe going there. He keeps the same staff so they must be as happy working there as I am a patient there. If he can't work you in he has PA's that will see you! Love Mercedes Davis!

He is great but his staff is rude and gossipy especially the blonde receptionist. They love to talk bad about patients. If I did not like Dr McCarthy so much I would find another doctor. Kris is the most unfriendly nurse there is.

Dr McCarthy, the receptionist, nurses, technicians and other staff all work very well together to provide the patient with excellent care. They go far out of their way to meet the needs of patients with complex medical needs. This is not always the case in the medical field today. It’s great to know that if you’re in a medically precarious position, Dr McCarthy & his team will not throw you to the wind. I’ve relied on them to fit me in during an emergency and they’ve never let me down.

Dr. McCarthy has been my doctor for around 12 years. I feel he has saved my life with his Suboxone program. I have never felt judged or disrespected as a patient, he's helped me help myself. His compassion to help heal comes from the heart not a medical book. It's my belief he gives the best medical care in Myrtle Beach. 5 stars to him and office staff***** love them all, Vicki Toney
