Dr. Edward Detar, MD

Dr. Detar recently performed surgery on my husband. What an extraordinary and gifted surgeon. Prior to the surgery, he explained everything in details- the actual surgery, risks, recovery. Very passionate, patient, kind man. Answered all our questions. The surgery was successful and we are so grateful to Dr. Detar, the anesthesiologist and his assistants. All the staff at Kootenai were wonderful. And Dr Detar’s office staff are so kind, very helpful and supportive. We highly recommend Dr DeTar if you need a surgeon.

Mammogram revealed breast cancer. Went to see Dr. Detar. My husband and I were informed of steps to take and the doctor went above and beyond. Dr. Detar definitely had my best interests at heart. Highly recommend him and his staff at Kootenai Health.

Went in for surgical removal of lumps in chest area and on shin bone. Dr DeTar and his staff were professional, kind, thoughtful, empathetic, and even had a wonderful sense of humor during the process. I can’t say anything remotely unkind about any of them. They have my full gratitude!

Thanks to Dr. Detar my Dad is now cancer free. He was absolutely wonderful when explaining, in laymans terms, to my Mom and I how the surgery went and what to expect going forward. I was also impressed with the fact that a nurse from his practice stopped by to personally check on my Dad and to give him some last minute instructions upon his discharge from the hospital. YES, I would recommend Dr Detar.

It was the first time I'd met Dr. Detar. I wish he were my family doctor. I immediately was made comfortable by his professionalism, demeanor, and just a bit of humor. I really liked his nurse too. She made me feel welcome. A+ to all.

This Dr is professional and makes you feel in good hands. This includes his entire staff. Just had my second hernia surgery with him and am feeling optimistic . I'm a nervous Nelly and this Dr's amazing competence really calms me. I'm writing this review just a couple days after my surgery which should speak volumes to his abilities. He was referred to me by a good friend who was also very pleased.

So far I have only completed the pre-surgery exam. Wait time in waiting area less than 5 minutes. Waiting time after interview by nurse, less than 5 minutes. Nice facilities, exceptional staff. Dr. Detar explained my procedure clearly and to my satisfaction. I never felt rushed. Its great to leave the first visit with such a favorable and lasting impression. Inspires patient confidence for the next step.

I felt very comfortable with Dr Detar.

Not only an amazing surgeon but an amazing man. He performed a very unorthodox emergency surgery that saved my life and with his experience as a feild surgeon over seas, might have been the only surgeon that could have successfully completed it. He has continued to stay in touch and gives the impression that he is truly invested in my well being. Hes a hell of a guy that i feel blessed to have been the beneficiary of his extraordinary talents, ill forever be indebted.

Dr. Detar explained everything about my situation, all about the procedures that we would be doing and about complications that could happen. After the first procedure and it was found that we could not go further that day. He spoke to me and explained what he found and then went out and explained everything to my husband. I never felt like he was in a rush or skipping over our concerns. I honestly feel like Dr. Detar cares about his patients and spends time to make sure we are as comfortable.
