Two years an no improvement
Seemed knowledgeable and concerned Recommended surgery to fuse L2 through L5 I said ok, I was in so much pain from pinched nerves. Long story short 2 yrs later ,still can walk to mail box without setting down, constant pain. This was in Henry county GA . Come to find out he had laft town. So I went two several doctors and was told they want say he did something wrong only it's not how they would have done it. I have had physical Therapy several times, tried spine injections and nothing helped so I am having to endure constant pain and recommended surgery again . I don't know if I can endure that again. Recovery is painful and lengthy.

Surgery
Dr. Choi is cool.he listen but yes he talk fast. He did my surgery in February 2023. For my sciatica 5 months later I’m still in pain. Still getting injections, on medication. Can’t go back to work. I need my life back. When I call for him, he’s on a family emergency. I need to talk to him about fixing my problem.

Go somewhere else
No empathy, fat shaming, talks a bit too fast, doesn’t explain things very well, always in a hurry. Not someone I would ever go to again

California's loss
Dr Choi did a cervical fusion on me when he had his private practice in California. He listened, gave me his time and never made me feel like a paycheck. Surgery was very successful. Then treated me for a spine injury after joining SCOI. He gives the same time, care and attention and explains thoroughly so you understand the diagnosis and plan of treatment. He such a great Dr, that I hunted him down for care after leaving SCOI and would love his care now for a current issue but was sad to see he moved to Georgia. Honestly, if I could, I would travel that far to still be under his care. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Choi
Dr. Choi is impatient and even rude when responding to questions from patients. His manner makes him appear arrogant and self-absorbed. When I told a friend about my experience with this doctor, she admitted that he was the same with her mother. So it confirmed my decision never to return again and to never refer anyone to him.

Seriously communication problem
I can’t really assess whether he’s a good surgeon. He told me I needed surgery and I trusted him. I had the surgery and 4 months later, I question whether it was worth it. I just exchanged one kind of chronic pain for another. And Dr. Choi didn’t prepare me at all for what recovery would be like, was terrible with answering questions, and has the WORST listening skills of anyone I’ve ever met.

Dr. Choi is doing a great job with my neck condition. He listens to my needs and has done incredible work in response to my pain. My epidural was virtually painless and worked like a dream. He has respected my desire to not have fusion surgery and has worked with me over a period of six months to handle my neck pain with care and concern. In fact, he was the first to accurately diagnose my spinal injury and explained all the options and the consequences of any decision. I feel as if I have finally found a physician who is willing to partner with me on my health.

I would like to preface this by saying that he did what he was supposed to do, he fixed my back to the best of his ability. However, he has some of the worst bedside manner I have ever encountered. He has no idea what he’s talking about when it comes to wound care and he’s quite scalpel happy and excited to put you under again if anything goes wrong without considering alternative options. He misjudged my stitches and took them out too early then proceeded to staple a good 6 inches of my incision closed without any sort of anesthetic. He does not take care of pain properly post surgery and is incredibly rude and tone deaf. I would highly recommend finding a different doctor.
