A Nightmare
My recent visit to Golden State Dermatology, specifically with Dr. Edgar Fincher, MD, PhD, was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I had sought help for a concerning skin issue, but what followed was a series of misdiagnoses, and inappropriate treatments that left me in a far worse condition than when I arrived. In hindsight, my experience at Golden State Dermatology with Dr. Edgar Fincher, MD, PhD, was not just disappointing but outright dangerous. His incorrect diagnosis, inappropriate treatment decisions, and the resulting severe side effects not only prolonged my suffering but necessitated additional medical intervention to rectify. I would strongly caution anyone seeking dermatological care to avoid this practitioner and this clinic altogether, as my experience highlights a shocking level of incompetence and negligence that should not be overlooked. In short, a ridicules service that I got hurt physically and I had to pay for it!!!

A Nightmare at Golden State Dermatology with Dr. Edgar Fincher, MD, PhD My recent visit to Golden State Dermatology, specifically with Dr. Edgar Fincher, MD, PhD, was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I had sought help for a concerning skin issue, but what followed was a series of misdiagnoses, and inappropriate treatments that left me in a far worse condition than when I arrived. To begin with, Dr. Fincher's diagnosis was completely incorrect. He confidently asserted a condition that subsequent consultations elsewhere proved to be entirely off base. Not only did he misdiagnose, but his decision regarding the pathology of my condition was equally flawed. The treatment plan he recommended was not only ineffective but exacerbated the issue. The prescription provided by Dr. Fincher resulted in severe side effects that I wasn't warned about. My skin reacted terribly, leading to prolonged bleeding that persisted for an agonizing week. This was not only physically distressing but emotionally draining as well, knowing that the professional I trusted had led me to this point. Eventually, out of desperation and worsening symptoms, I sought a second opinion from a reputable dermatologist elsewhere. To my relief, they quickly identified the actual problem and prescribed a treatment that promptly resolved the issue. It was a stark contrast to the ordeal I endured under Dr. Fincher's care.

A Surgeon Who Leaves No Trace
Dr. Fincher is a skillful surgeon specializing in reconstructive surgery for skin cancer. Over the past 15 years he has treated me with the Mohs technique for numerous basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers. In early 2017 he excised numerous basal cell carcinomas scattered across my face and neck overlying vulnerable nerves and blood vessels. The process took hours to clear the margins of all the excisions. His colleague, Dr. Jennifer Hermann, repaired my face and neck so skillfully that later my dermatologist had difficulty seeing the surgery site. Dr. Fincher went the additional step to refer me to a radiation oncologist at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. I underwent six weeks of radiation oncology there to prevent a reoccurrence of the cancer in such a delicate site. Recently Dr. Fincher excised a deep and extensive basal cell carcinoma from my elbow, requiring stitches over the joint. A month later the wound had closed and the faint scar was almost invisible.

I will not return. Dr. Fincher is nice enough, but maybe because I was on medicare, he didn't do the Mohs method my mother or others I know had. Instead seemed to just cut out a large piece all at once. Wouldn't hear of sewing up, guess it was too big a piece he cut out for that?Said I wouldn't have a scar. And in fact it will be a huge scar. If you're over 65 these days, I guess you're throw aways.
