Knowledge and Patient concern.

I have been going to Dr. Mekala for over 10 years. My family sees Dr Mekala as well. He is very caring and knowledgeable. The staff is very friendly and always in good spirits. My family now sees him as well. He is very caring and knowledgeable. I have recommended him to my family friends.

I scheduled a teledoc visit with the doctor at 5 pm and it is 6pm, no call yet! The nurse did call us to get the copay though very diligently however it is 1 hour post the scheduled appointment time and still waiting. I was driving to home from San Antonio and took a stop to complete my Teladoc visit and so far have been still waiting. Highly unprofessional, please don’t waste your time here, slow staff and disrespectful of the patient.

He is not diligent at his work. 1. I got there at 8.45am appointment only to be told he wasn't coming, had to go somewhere else. I had to reschedule. 2. On reschedule he said he was booking my labs. I fasted and got to the lab, order was not called. I called his clinic, his staff was very rude. Like boss, like staff. 3. On another occasion it took me 3weeks to get him send my prior authorization to the pharmacy. Three weeks of no medication for me! 4. When you go to see him it usually takes 2hours because he wants to do everything by himself instead of hiring a nurse practitioner. Please think twice before choosing him. Terrible experience always!

This Doctor is the worst, I take my dad into see him, and tell him he's had bursitis for three months, he wouldn't even give him a steroid shot, said to come back in two weeks, my dad can hardly get around as it is, does he think it's easy just to load up and take him back anytime? Won't answer phones, or refill meds, what a joke

My brother is a patient of Dr. Mekala and I am having the hardest time getting him a referral to a neurologist. I have been working on this for two months and every time I call, I get put on hold for over 30 min waiting for them to "check" on the status. This is taking up time during my workday and tying their phone lines up. This is completely ridiculous and an important matter that no one is taking seriously. I am beyond frustrated.

He was the substitute doctor for my pcp when I was in the hospital. He was negligent in prescribing my blood pressure medicine in a timely manner. This resulted in a frightening spike. He also told a lie to the nurse that was totally irrelevant. He prescribed medicine for my discharge which I did not need!! This doctor is dangerous and incompetent

On August 7, I was scheduled for a video conference with Mekala or his PA. Finally after being on line for almost an hour waiting for someone to "see" me I showed the PA my badly infected leg from a scratch. I didn't get much in the way of guidane, but, was told that an antibiotic prescription would be ordered. When I contacted my pharmacy later that day I discovered that no prescription had been received. I called Mekala's office to find out why. They must close early on Friday or the lone receptionist just didn't want to answer the phone. On Saturday, I put in a call for the on-call doctor who would do nothing for me as I was not his patient. What good is an on-call doctor if he won't do anything? Finally, on Monday, I was in so much pain that I went to an urgent care clinic. I got an antibiotic shot and a prescription. I called Mekala's office to discuss the matter and asked that either he or his PA call me back. Like my prescription never heard from anyone.

I have been going to Dr. Mekala for many years. My family now sees him as well. He is very caring and knowledgeable. The staff works hard to accommodate short notice appointments. I would recommend him to friends.

Dr. Mekala is excellent. Friendly and gives you the time you need. He has an excellent office staff that make you feel welcome. I will recommend him to my friends!

I have been going to this office for a number of years. The office staff are always wonderful. Dr. Mekala is a kind man but I feel as though my concerns aren't really addressed. The wait time is miserable. The 1st appointment time is scheduled for 8:45 but the Dr never arrives until 9:30. Today I left at 10:35. I had been waiting since 9:15 and never saw the Dr. This is very unprofessional. My time is valuable too and I expect to be treated as such.

Dr. Mekala is a kind, attentive, knowledgeable and compassionate physician. When high wait times are experienced, please know that he is giving patients his undivided attention and care. I never feel rushed or stupid asking questions. I like that his staff reviews everything I am taking and any changes since my last visit. He has gone above and beyond to help me stay well.
