Dr. Douglas Mackay, MD

Horrible experience. He is rude, no bedside manners and very little tactic to deal with patients, especially pregnant women. At 24 weeks pregnant he decided to drop me as a patient in the practice because my BMI was .4 higher than what he claims the practice can take. I had seen 3 of the other doctors and they never mentioned anything about this. He was rude in his communication, barely allowed me to get a word out and basically acted like I was wasting his time.

Deserves zero stars. I was present for my daughter’s labor. I am a nurse, I’ve assisted with countless gynecology exams. This doctor has the worst bedside manner I have ever witnessed, which my daughter had warned me of in advance from her prenatal experience. She said his partners are all great, but he seems to hate women. Unfortunately, he was the OB on duty the day my granddaughter was born. That was only the beginning of the nightmare for my daughter and her husband. My daughter (also a nurse) was a warrior and never screamed or even cried out during her 11 hour labor. Her epidural only took on one side. Then she needed an unplanned C-Section and her nerve block did not work. SHE FELT THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE! Traumatic to say the least, for both of them. Everyone was surprised that she would even consider a second child, her experience was so horrific. Thankfully, in six weeks she will have her second baby with a different practice and a different hospital.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. McKay! He carefully listened to all of my concerns in a respectful and encouraging manor along with providing the best care possible for my labor and delivery. I highly recommend Dr. McKay!

Rushes you out of appointment. Brushes off concerns. Felt very degraded as my list of concerns were ignored, didn’t even get a chance to go through anything. He ended the appointment before I could finish. This has happened in multiple appointments with this doctor.

Dr. MacKay is friendly and appears to be informative, but I realized after having a difficult time with the Mirena IUD that he had not properly educated me about my options, and made no mention of any of the other IUDs on the market with different levels and hormonal formulations. I will not be returning to Dr. MacKay. This is more a problem with his St. Clair office, but I waited three weeks--and am still waiting--for them to follow through with scheduling an appt to get the IUD removed.

Very kind, a real gentleman! I will go again.

Dr. MacKay is condescending and rude.
