Outstanding. He performed Whipple Surgery on me in 2002. If it was not for him and his staff I would not be alive today ! Always kept myself and my family updated.

Having had a previous radical prostatectomy and a complicated appendectomy I was very apprehensive about another lower abdominal surgery. For many years I chose to just ignore my inguinal hernias. That may have been the right move in the long run because when it became obvious I needed surgery Dr Held recommended a robotic repair that would avoid dealing with the old scar tissue. He was able to keep me calm, his surgical staff was great and the procedure went smooth. The first couple days post op was't fun and I did take a week off from work but its now been 2 months since the surgery and I'm at 95% with no pain. Thank you Dr Held!

We had the WORST experience with Dr Held. His bed side manner is atrocious. What was supposed to be a 3-4 recovery turned into a 28 day hospital stay. We got no answers, we were just told that "we'll get to the bottom of this". Only the nurses and his PA actually looked at my fathers wound that got infected, he did not. He told my mom who didn't understand all of the medical terms that she was "just a laymen and wouldn't understand". Really?!??! Thankfully I am a nurse and could take the time t

I feel like the only time I see him is when I don't sign his forms to do the surgery. He doesn't come by anymore after he finished surgery nor does his staff to explain what he did in the OR I have too wait hours to see her nurse then they can't answers any of my questions. I also don't understand why my daughter disability form has not been filled out yet. I left it at LIJ on March 10, 2016 then I was told to fax it to Dr Held office on March 23 and I still nothing.

A doctor at St. Francis Hospital last year botched my hernia operation and nearly killed me. Dr. Held repaired the damage in 35 minutes and was caring and kind in post-op. A highly skilled surgeon who works near-miracles.
