For the company
I went to have an IME exam from him pending my surgery that has been dragged out for a year had empathy for the fact it took too long. Legit watched my knee pop twice in front of him (reason why I need the surgery lost the cartilage keeping my knee cap stable). Then in the report he says I have an injury but said it wasn't from the fall I had last year. There should be an advisory board review on this doctor because I am not the only comment complaining the same thing. Due to his response I know have to wait even longer which is putting me in a predicament where I might loose the last bit of cartilage I have left keeping my knee cap in place. I am also extremely active before this injury and it's taken away from my life drastically.

Very Unprofessional
This IME Dr. spent about 10 or so minutes with me in an unprofessional setting (conference room instead of a medical office). This Dr. was very unprofessional and, of course, he cared more for the company than me, the patient. My not-at-fault claim was denied. Shocker! He had some young girl typing on a laptop. I felt like I was in a court deposition instead of a valid medical exam.

Dr. Douglas Gula spent 7min. examining my injury. His practice as an independent examiner is weak and elementary. I went to an out of state specialist who is "THE EXPERT" in the field of hand to shoulder for an independent examination pertaining to my injury and he spent 1hr and 55 mins. with me which included 11 tests, many range of motion exams and xrays before he made his analysis and prognosis. All of these with his RDMC firmly disagree w/Dr. Gulas 7 minute fiasco.

Spent 17min. with me and told me I get an A+ and keep doing what I am doing...(?) and wrote a beautiful report to BWC denying me treatment on my allowed, existing claim. His nurse ate her lunch in patient exam room while he did his exam. And my employer paid big dollars to him for this report, more than the treatment I needed would have cost them. WOW.

Dr Gula may be a very good doctor, but as a Workmans Comp doctor he is all for the company. His evaluation of me was done very professional, but he is very one sided for the company who hired him. I would be interested in a response with statistics showing his for or against the company who pays him. My appointment was 7/26/18 and he kept my disc with the MRI on it, I called on 8/30 and Andy said it would be returned. Today is 10/19/18 and still dr Gula has not returned yet.
