Dr. Douglas Geiger, MD

Dr. Geiger spoke to me kindly and with respect. He explained the surgery to me in terms that I could understand and let me ask questions.

The procedure was a discectomy. I had been in excruiating pain for months. I have been ABSOLUTELY PAIN FREE since the procedure in mid-November 2023.I would recommend him to anyone.

Very professional and very caring staff. Would highly recommend Dr Geiger to anyone seeking back or neck surgery. I went from tremendous pain and hardly able to walk without pain, to now can walk and move with no pain or discomfort. Thank you so much.

I had my back surgery several years ago done by Dr Geiger. My first surgery was horrible done at UofM. When I called his office they were kind enough to schedule my appointment right away. From not being able to walk to complete healing and back to my normal life. I consider Dr Geiger as the most professional, kind and truly a great back surgeon. I recommended him to a lot of people. I had a hard time reading some of the bad reviews about him because I had a very good experience and great outcome from his care.

Excellent care from start to finish! I will highly recommend Dr. Geiger and team to all family/friends.

Staff did not listen to me and seemed disinterested. Got my symptoms and my medical history wrong. My visits were a complete waste of time and money while making me feel like I was faking symptoms.

HORRIBLE. I went for a second opinion before a scheduled 3rd spinal fusion for L3-L5. The first thing I was asked by the Dr., was I vaccinated? Um..none of his business, and how is that relevant to my back problems. Had me do an X-ray prior at Chelsea Hospital that was something new they said....where they extended me back as far as I could go with arms in the air crossed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am so regretful I didn't say no. I have been in constant, unbearable pain since. MY BACK IS fused from C4-L3, I cannot bend backwards. They said these are tests that the DR. likes to order. I would never recommend him. He basically wanted to put a bandaid on my situation and prolong the inevitable for another year. His bedside manor was blah and I am so furious that I am in constant pain. Going to have a new set of X-rays by my original surgeon to make sure nothing is broken or pinched. NEVER GO SEE THIS DOCTOR. The staff is unorganized as well, never called back the next day either.

I have recommended Dr.Geiger many times. I was told by other doctors that nothing could be done for me. Dr. Geiger fused my spine 5 years ago. I grew 2 inches taller because I could stand up straight for the first time in years and my pain level went from 10 to 2. I went from barely functioning to doing the things I love again. He gave me my life back!

My experience was exceptional with Dr Geiger. I would and have recommended him to friends and family who might be looking for an excellent surgeon. The best part? I have zero pain after surgery. Zero. After being incapacitated for almost 2 years...going thru shots and pt...Dr Geiger zeroed in on the problem and resolved it. Many thanks for his dedication to helping people return to a normal life.

My back surgery was successful. No more pain! I'm grateful that Dr Geiger and his staff recognized the damage being done to my leg a result of a herniated disc. They expedited the process and I had surgery within a couple of weeks. A big thank you to Dr Geiger, Danielle, and Deb!!

Deeply regret not checking more reviews before having surgery with Dr. Geiger. Surgery was unsuccessful, bedside manor is poor, follow up is slow and office staff seems very disorganized.

I didn't even get as far as an appointment with Dr. Geiger. His secretary wouldn't listen to what I had to say. She scheduled an appt with the PA even though I asked if it should be done after the MRI, which I already had a referral for. She said that the PA would schedule the MRI (why, when I already had the referral? Not listening). I said it would be a waste of time and money to have the appt before the MRI. Paper work never arrived. When I called to confirm the appt time I was told to be in early for an x-ray which was the first I had heard about that. We canceled the appt (so he's just going to live with the pain, was her comment) based on the communication problems with the secretary (Deb).

Dr. Geiger took excellent care of me. Surgery was successful and I have my quality of life back. He and his office staff were all very kind and helpful.

Based on the poor care my father received after his back surgery, I would NOT recommend Dr. Geiger, MI Brain & Spine Institute, or St. Joseph Chelsea. If you are an elderly person BEWARE that no one discusses the risk factors for postoperative delirium and what can happen after surgery!

Spent VERY little time with me. seem aloof and cold.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Geiger! He came in didn't look at the report my primary doctor sent over, didn’t look at my MRI, which shows a bulging disk, and only looked at the xray they took in his clinic! My bulging disk doesn't appear on x-rays. He refused to even listen. I felt horrible and violated after my 3 minutes with Geiger! I was self pay and I think Geiger refused to help me due to money! Thank God for real doctor's that have stepped in to help me since this appointment!

He was very honest about the condition of my back but hopeful. I was unable to move when I went into surgery and felt 95% better immediately after surgery. To me it was a miracle. Today I rarely have any back discomfort unless I lift something repeatedly over 50 lbs.. which I try always to avoid.

Dr. Geiger did an excellent job of repairing my back. After a year of debilitating pain, I have quality of life again. I would definitely recommend him.
